I've been coming to the Comox since the very early days, almost 20 odd years (I don't recall what it was before) and I should start by saying that the bar/serving staff are top notch. I've never once had an issue with any of the servers and that is very impressive indeed. Now to the food. My lord the food... More

Although we don't usually eat in the hotel, we were tired and hungry and decided to grab lunch here. The restaurant in the hotel seemed to already be closed so we grabbed lunch in the bar. Quite disappointing.

I've been going here 2-3 times a month with friends to shoot pool. We have our own league: Crazy Pool Players. We have a table reserved starting at 6:30 pm. We play 8-ball or cut throat depending on the number of us who show up. Sometimes Scotch doubles when we play in teams. Each game is only $1. We love... More

I was along Denman Street at noon time and a parking space appeared so I decided upon lunch at the Comox Street Bar & Grill. A corn dog and a Caesar salad and I was on my way in 35 minutes. Service was prompt and the grub very tasteful.

Don't mind the dive bar atmosphere, but the $18 nachos were a joke. Barely enough for one person and no dipping sauces. Service was lacking, and rest of food we had was just okay. Wouldn't go back.

Stopped in for some drinks on a Saturday... Prices were reasonable and there was a live band setting up, but we left before they started. We were staying in the hotel and I could hear them later from the balcony and it sounded pretty good. It's unpretentious and kinda had a like "this is the bar that 1986 forgot" kind... More

Friends decided to watch the game in a pub atmosphere an given we were already in the West End we decided upon the Comox Street Bar. We found the nachos, clams and chicken wings especially nice. One friend mentioned to stay away from the seafood gumbo. All in all it was an enjoyable evening.

Went with friends after not being there for awhile. What happened? Used to be crowded and they always had food specials every day. There were 6 people in there and no food specials so we went elsewhere. The food used to be really good and not expensive. Great pub food. Whoever the Food and Beverage manager is now should be... This place is one of the best in the West End to watch a game, meet friends, have a drink, see a band or enjoy the karaoke scene. Unfortunately if you want to eat you are out of luck unless you go when the Canucks are playing. They have a taco special that is a great price and very tasty.... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
