This is the 2nd visit to the restaurant after 15 months. Every staff is so enthusiastic creating a joyful ambience. Their Sake selection can satisfy demanding customer and food is full of modern twist and surprises. Great job to the team and I will surely visit again!

Nice atmosphere, convenient location, friendly service, food although didn't look expensive, but ended up to be on the more expensive side, C$150+ for the 3 of us, including one drink each.

This place is a ton of fun. It really feels like walking into a casual joint in Tokyo. The servers loudly carry on amongst each other, clearly having a great time, and virtually the entire clientele, except for us, consisted of young-ish Asian people. The food was interesting and innovative. I suppose if you took away the atmosphere, and the... More

I came in to eat around 6pm and the staff was very welcoming. Great music that creates a nice atmosphere to eat in. The pitcher of Sapporo is a must have when eating with company for $15. The three types of sashimi were lovely -- each bite had a fresh taste, with a smooth texture that melts in your mouth.... More

I've been to many of the Guu's and each one has its own specialty. Honestly, it doesn't matter which one you go to -- they're all very good! They do tend to get very busy so try to come earlier than later. Staff is also very friendly and accommodating.

We especially loved the scallop dish and everthing else was innovative and well done. Our waitress was very sweet and patient with us in explaining the menu

I visited Vancouver for the first time in April 2014. During this trip, we had a craving for some good Japanese food. We walked down Denman St. from our hotel and found a restaurant named Kingyo, but they were completely full and the wait was over 1 hour. Since we were with our 1 1/2 year old toddler, we didn't... Not too much to say, aside from it being enjoyable. We had to wait a few minutes (group of 6) before getting a table, but otherwise, no problems. Great authentic dishes, definitely worth visiting again.

Came here for dinner and drinks with some friends, there's not much to add really. Kobachi is a great izakaya, the food comes quick, the beer is flowing and the atmosphere vibrant and fun. Loved that they had more "odd" dishes like intestines and such on special!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
