When they say snackbar they mean it, because the food portions are delicious but not overly filling, meaning you may be better off ordering a bunch of dishes to share. That being said it was definitely good and the drinks were even better. If anything I would even recommend sharing a bunch of appetizers as those seemed to be the... More

We went here for lunch. The simple lettuce salad we had with its secret sauce was delicious. I had sashimi with rice. The sashimi could have been a bit colder. My wife had a beef and rice dish which she enjoyed. The hot green tea and lemon drink also hit the spot. All in all for a reasonable C$42 with... More

On our first night in Vancouver we were looking for somewhere to eat. The place we picked turned out to be fully booked, so we made reservations for the 2nd night and asked them to recommend another restaurant. This how we ended up at Suika. We are not that familiar with Japanse food. we are familiar with Sushi and tepanyaki... More

Make reservations unless you're the 1st guest arriving when they open. Better to go with a few friends so you can sample more choices from the menu. Oxtail Ramen is a plus, any of the sashimi carpaccios are superb. Hainanese salad as shown below. Seabream Carpaccio also shown below. (I prefer less dressing or on the side) or its drenched.... Great atmosphere; without looking outside, you might think that you were in Japan. Their sister restaurant in Toronto is Kingyo Toronto. We ordered the Delux Suika Box as appetizer to share, and contained 9 various appetizers and we thought it was a good way to start. I had sashimi of tuna and salmon and it was really fresh and goof.... More

One of the best Japanese food in Vancouver. Love the Ebi Chilli bowl and the ribs. Reasonably priced. You have to reserve before you come because there is a long wait for getting in here.

Very tasty and reasonably priced meals to enjoy for lunch or dinner. The service was good and the Kirin beer was cold.

Best place in the city for the full Izakaya experience. Food is A+ quality and flavour and the price matches what you get. Service is always excellent. You will not regret going here.

This a favourite place for me and hubby and it never disappoints. We have been going here for a few years. We love the ribs ! Everything on the Suika menu is delicious. We have introduced this special place to our friends and they love it. Suika makes their own home-made gingerale and so they serve up Gin & Ginger,... More

"Snackbar" doesn't do Suika justice. The food and the service are excellent. Super fresh sushi, wonderful small plates. The sable fish is fabulous! Very upbeat, high energy place that is really fun with friends. Great location on Broadway between Granville and Burrard. Make a reservation, it's a busy spot. Highly recommend this one!

Staying in South Granville

Neighbourhood Profile
South Granville
The neighbourhood closest to the airport, a generous mix of locals and tourists populate the area. The blend has made it a go-to spot to find an eclectic collection of entertainment, from theatres and cinemas, to antique stores and last-minute kitsch souvenir shops. It gives off a transient vibe, and is one of the more higgledy-piggledy areas in terms of what you'll find, making it a fun area to explore and map out, all while taking in the hectic atmosphere of people coming and going, while others look for the best ways to spend their last few hours in the city.
