This is a new restaurant to the Newton area replacing a former Manchurian Wok eatery. It is located in a crowded mall with four other food outlets, a green grocer, and numerous other shops. Consequently, parking can be a problem. The restaurant claims to be a fusion of Chinese and East Indian cuisine. Having eaten lunch there on two occasions,... More

Sadly the "Salt and Pepper Grill" has been sold. The new owner & chef Kam Khinda has re-named this restaurant the "Italia Bella Bar & Grill" (please see separate review)

Average restaurant, food was good, nothing exceptional, prices were good, located near the hotel we stayed at so that made it very convenient. Nothing negative.

This is a small restaurant, attached to a well-known world-wide hotel chain. We went, not expecting very much, but were surprised/gob-smacked! The gnocchi were meltingly tender, the clam and mussel dish was delicious and the caprese salad was satisfyingly good. Order off the specials menu, for sure, and you will not be disappointed. You might even be astonished!!

We were in Vancouver for 3 days prior to taking an Alaskan Cruise. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Uptown which is next door. After a long day of sightseeing, we stopped by for dinner. The waitress was very friendly and helpful in choosing items off the menu as well as giving us tips on what to see while... More

The food is very good and the owner and staff provide excellent service. We have had three meals there and they have all been great. The steak sandwich was very tender and the Caesar Salad was also very tasty. The Mexican omelet was very good as well.

Conveniently located next door to the Best Western Uptown hotel....it may not be "fancy", but the food is good and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a Vancouver restaurant ($9.95 for home battered 2 pieces of cod fish & chips or the loaded beef burger, etc). Friendly staff, clean comfortable decor....eat in, take out or have delivered to your hotel... More

Located right next door to the hotel we stayed at, the menu was simple and uncomplicated, the service friendly and competent, and the food did not offend. It was convenient but not compelling. Plenty of other interesting places to eat within a short walk.

South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios.
