We went back a second time as the first was that good. Very fresh and superb tasting food! The black cod and also the egg plant were a personal favourite. Tuna and salmon sashimi were up there with the best I've had! Enjoy!

My wife and I went to Toshi to eat dinner on the last day of the year. Sashimi was extremely good, one of the best I ever ate. We also got some fish soup that was definitely way above average. The negative points are: They rushed us to order quickly, much before the closure time. The rice was over, which... More

The sushi was incredibly fresh. Not sure if this was a reflection of this, however the salmon was a beautiful bright red color. The eggplant dish was absolutely divine. The atmosphere was very cozy and warm contrasting the cold night. The only thing they could improve on is obviously the line ups by calling people when they are next.

We were staying in an airbnb 50 meters away and saw a constant line outside this place in the afternoons. We decided to go on our last night. We ended up waiting half an hour (much less than what is commented in most reviews but we got there at 8:30pm). The food was amazing and he service was pretty good.... More

The place is only open for dinner, 5pm, however, you better be there say 4pm and start lining up. Be prepared to wait 1+ hours if you're not one of first group to be in ... don't forget to put name down on the wait list inside the restaurant. Once were waited 1+ hour and by the time we got... Because of the daily line-ups I was expecting extraordinary things, so I was a little disappointed. The highlight was the grilled fish and the grilled eggplant, but the other things we ordered were ordinary. Sat at the sushi bar, and had to look at a very messy raw-seafood mise en place. That was surprising. The service was extraordinary. I almost... More

My daughter and I wanted to try this very popular Sushi restaurant on my last visit to Vancouver. The location is easy to access, but on a side street out of Main Street - location and decor nothing to call home about. We put ourselves on the wait list inside and waited outside for over an hour, and it was... More

seriously disappointed. Sushi was an average "all you can eat" Cramp conditions doesn't make things better. I thought it was more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. really nothing special or note worthy.

Neighbourhood Profile
South Main
South Main, or SoMa, is a neighbourhood in upswing. Inhabited by young humanitarian professionals in converted lofts and studio apartments, what was once an industrial centre is now a wellspring of vintage and eco fashion shops, contemporary sawdust-floor galleries, craft beer joints, and basement acting studios. All set to an Art Deco background with a strong blue collar sensibility underpinning each new pop-up and foodie trend, SoMa is on the rise.
