My son recommended that we have lunch at Brioche, a small cheerful bistro. It was a good idea. I had a fresh and delicious ham sandwich with Brie, a unique combination, served promptly by a pleasant staff member. The sandwich was huge and I could only eat half of it. The remainder was quickly wrapped up for me to take... More

Delightful looking local eatery featured in our Eyewitness guide. The food was good but hygiene very poor. Hair found in green salad and waste bin by milk station with flies buzzing around. Would not recommend unless the hygiene improves dramatically.

We ate here three times during our visit to Vancouver as we were staying nearby - two breakfasts and one evening meal. All were delicious and large portions e.g fruit with yoghurt and granola was a large soup plate of fresh and interesting fruit, with yoghurt and home made granola, lovely. Also had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on a... More

We have tried a few places in Vancouver but this place is the best for breakfast. Situated just on the edge of Gastown. Assortment of freshly cooked omelettes, traditional dishes served with fruit. Also a variety of excellent pastries and muffins.

We had sandwiches and paninis. I went for the veal parmigiana on foccacia bread. This was a veal escalope with mozzarella and a tomato based sauce with mushrooms all served hot and very tasty. We also had ham, brie and mushroom on foccacia and a tuna salad sandwich. Good service and reasonable prices for the area (Gastown).

Instead of returning to the USA from Southeast Asia I returned yet again to Vancouver for the pleasure of dining at brioche. Smiling faces, more than reasonable prices and an wonderful menu to choose from. Bakery is fantastic. Have eaten here so many times. A real joy. Eduardo, the owner certainly has his act together. Can not say enough positive... More

I enjoy a good cup of tea and it is a basic milk and sugar robust tea. Brioche knows how to make a good cup of tea. They do have other special blends but if you are looking for a good steeped tea, this is a good spot. I also enjoyed their white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. Not huge but... More

Who cuts up meatballs? We ordered two spaghettis with meatballs with different sauces. The marinara order had virtually no sauce. The carbonara sauce was enough. BUT they cut the meatballs into super small chunks which disappeared into the spaghetti. I think this is a way to provide less meat and save money for the restaurant. Isn't a whole meatball the... Wait on line at the register to place you order, then an employee brings it to your table. This restaurant is known for it's sourdough French toast, which did not disappoint. Each serving consists of two thick slices, choice of toppings, and fresh fruit. The omelettes were also generous portions, available with assorted fillings. I enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, the... The vegetable quiche at Brioche is quite possibly the best quiche I've eaten to date. On top of that they have delicious coffee and baked goods. It's the perfect place for brunch or lunch if you find yourself wandering though Gastown.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
