Brewbakers, located in the heart of Downtown Fredericton, has called the original Butternut Bakery home since 1997. With interconnected dining rooms, an open concept kitchen and rooftop patio, the atmosphere is both sophisticated and comfortable. Our menu reflects a philosophy of creating delicious, seasonal dishes, focusing on fresh, local ingredients. Our Sommelier has created an extensive wine list around our food style. He would love the opportunity to speak with you about all things food and wine! We welcome you to dine with us.
Not much to look at from the outside (in fact it appeared closed) but once inside this restaurant opens up before your eyes. A huge outdoor seating area or a quaint interior seating area are available and both have their charm, we opted for indoors...and enjoyed the ambience but found the table quite small and cramped, but I think that’s maybe part of the charm.
The food was incredible, served quickly and well presented. It’s not cheap but worth every cent.
Service was friendly and efficient and added to a wonderful evening meal.
Highly recommended, we will return.More
My wife and I have been going to Brewbakers for almost 20 years. Over that time the prices rose while the menu became tired. And to be honest we just stopped going - preferring Moco across the street. Not being meat eaters we were limited...at Brewbakers to fish dishes or vegetarian options. With Covid the restaurant closed down. Now it is opened again, I believe with new owners and definitely a new menu.It will become a go-to place for us again. For my wife's birthday my daughter sent her a $50 Brewbakers gift certificate, so we went last night. We had a full meal, ate and ordered much more than we do usually. We started with cocktails. I had an Aperol Spritz, my wife a gin sour. Both excellent (and the spritz especially so because my memory of when I had one last at this restaurant it was disappointing). We had appetizers. I had the Halibut Crudo and Jeannette the Vegetable and Goat Cheese Terrine ($17 and $15 respectively). Both Superb. For the main we had the seafood pasta, I being lactose intolerant they modified the cream sauce to make it milk free (about $30). We each had a glass of wine. I was unsure of which white to get so the server (Dave--excellent by the way) said I can help you out here and brought me shot glass level options of the two wines I was considering so I can do a blind taste to see which one I would want. We usually do not have desert after such a large meal but we did!. There was a lactose alternative for me and Jeannette the canelle. Finished with a really good espresso. The food was excellent from start to finish, not one dish disappointing. The service was professional. This is a $$$ fine food eatery. Even deducting the gift certificate the bill after taxes and tip came to about $165.00. So this may not be your everyday eatery, or of course you may not eat and drink as much as we did last night and certainly spend less. Regardless this is now for us certainly a viable option for fine eating in Fredericton. They are opened also to 11:00 some evenings--making Fredericton seem cosmopolitan.More
We have frequented this restaurant for many years. To me, it was the epitome of fine dining in town. 'Was' is the operative word.
It's now more 'bare bones' than before. Walls are bare as are the tables. Wrapped cutlery is the only thing on...the tables. Candles etc. are gone. They removed the atmosphere.
I do like soft jazz, but boy, was that music loud at times. Very loud. You could dance to it.
As for the food, it was good, almost as before. I ordered the pasta and clams. It was delicious. However the five clams were the size of jelly beans, mini jelly beans. And one didn't open. My wife had the maple Currie penne. She enjoyed it but found the penne a tad undercooked. The Brie was delicious as was the lemon meringue pie.
Our waitress was great and I cannot fault the service.
For the price I believe one should expect a better experience.
We will go one more time. If we have a similar experience we will not go back.More
My husband and I have been going to Brewbakers regularly for years until the COVID hit. Last month we went there for the first time since we got vaccinated. The menu is newly updated. One thing I noticed is that the price has been up...quite a bit. I would say it is easily the most expensive in town, with appetizer starting from $14 and main is ranging from $28-45. However, we didn't think the foods were on par with how much they were charged. We used to think Brewbakers has one of the most consistent quality of foods, but we were a bit disappointed with our recent visit. The appetizer scallops & pork belly was fantastic, but unfortunately, that's the only one. The rest were ok but nothing was super impressive. The scallop ceviche was tasteless, and the portion was tiny. All four of our main courses were just ok but lacklustre, certainly not worth the price. I hope this is just one exception.More
Went out for a birthday celebration. May 22/21. Service was 100%! Our server was attentive, prompt and personal. The food was excellent. With Doug Williams running the restaurant the level of service and food will be perfect every time!, we al, enjoyed the evening and...are planning our next evening out! Thanks Doug and the crew! Keep up the good work.More
We had the opportunity to sit on the patio which was lovely. It was nicely decorated with fresh flower pots. The service was also good. We had a tuna tartar appetizer as well as fish sticks. They were both quite tasty. We've had the maple...curry chicken penne many times however the noodles were too al dente. We were quite surprised with the rather large portion size of the penne given we ordered the 1/2 portion. The cheesecake was good but not overly original. The cocktails were appetizing but could also use some creativity. Overall good experience nothing overly amazing, would however recommend visiting if in Fredericton. Sloth eaters one thumb up !More
Staff are very friendly and polite. The food was good. I ordered PEI mussels but I don’t think they were very fresh but the creamy sauce was yummy with the garlic bread. The house salad was a good portion. The tenderloin wrapped with bacon was...very tender and tasty. I also enjoyed very much the creen brûlée. I would definitely come back.More
Enjoyed a nice business lunch on the beautiful patio. Greeted at the door (nice to see Doug back). Friendly, professional service in a pleasant atmosphere. Nice lunch menu. Fair pricing. Good portion sizes. Food was tasty, nicely presented and served hot.
