Always searching for the worlds's best fish and chips. Phoned ahead to check on parking and accessibility , the restaurant was helpful. Greeted and seated with a smiling face. The menu is limited but options are available and the server made suggestions as to how to configure the meal- the salad option was supplanted by a small amount of no-cost... More

This little hole in the wall is one of my favorites. Excellent scallops, fish and chips and best chowder in Halifax all at a low price with friendly service.

Ive eaten at all the fish and chip est in metro Halifax and Phills is by far the best, large servings with hot food served, and I don't know how they do it but its deep fried but not greasy as most. home made tarter sauce as well, typical prices but the food and service far outweighs anything else in... I have eaten at Phil's dozens of times, and it is safe to say that my worst meal here was still better than my best meal of fish and chips anywhere else. Where else can you get a plate of deep fried haddock where the fish portion is 90% of the meal?!? Their lightly breaded haddock filets may not be... More

We visited based on reviews here and overall it was good, but not great. Generally the servers were good, although we did have to wait a long time to get the check. The booths looked nice however the area at the back had a very strange (musty?) smell. The food itself was fine. Personally I prefer fish battered, and there... More

This is one of our "go to" restaurants where we have eaten on many occasions...and never been disappointed. It is causal, moderately priced restaurant with friendly staff and quick service. The seafood is invariably very fresh and the preparation is consistently skilled. The fish for the first and chips is breaded rather than battered, which makes for a lighter meal;... More

Two quick points: the prices are low! I ordered one of the most expensive plates , $16, and hers was $11. And save some room for dessert! The warm Strawberry pie with ice cream, excellent! $4. And the Gingebread is Perfect! Nice comfortable booths. Fantastic server took care of our every need. Our order was served just minutes after ordering.... More

We've been coming here for years. Always fresh fish cooked to perfection and never greasy. Fries are hand cut and coleslaw is delicious. Parking can be tricky but it's worth the effort. Phil's is wheelchair accessible.
