I live in NOTL and I purchased a lemon loaf to serve for a small gathering at home. I was disappointed that the lemon loaf was rather stale and I got it off my table and into the garbage. Pity since I have heard some...More

The breads, quiches and cakes here are divine but for several days when we were hanging out for cappuccinos and lattes the coffee machine was not working and there seemed no urgency to have it repaired. Pity.

Out for a morning walk before breakfast at our B&B, I stumbled upon Willow Cakes and Pastries and it felt like all was ok in the world. Pleasant greetings and service, excellent pastries and some of the best hazelnut coffee I’ve had anywhere. The showcase...More

Lovely little bakery cafe with a good but smallish range of options. Baked goods are really good, but modestly expensive.

This place was recommended to us as a good place for a quick breakfast. It was pretty quick, but not so good. The crust on the quiche was doughy, like it wasn't fully baked. The filling had little flavor. Bagels were more like rolls. Now...More

They have some of the best desserts around. It is worth the extra price for the quality of the items.

Quick stop between plays, nice cup of coffee and a wide selection of sweet and savoury treats. We split a lime cheesecake and it was a nice light bite to keep you going. Staff was friendly in this slightly out of the way place (if...More

Cute little spot just outside of the main town. The pastry/cake selection is delightful. There are individual size portions in addition to what you would regularly expect. Our lemon mouse cake was light and tart. A great balance accompanied with pipping hot fresh coffee. Great...More

If you want something special, this is the place. I bought a wonderful cake here for my friend's birthday. They did a special Happy Birthday sign made of chocolate. They have great gluten free products. They are pricey but well worth it.

Description
It is hard to say what pastry chef and proprietor Catherine O'Donnell is best known for - her incredible breads, decadent cakes, or her decidedly delicious pastries. Unquestionably, they are all worth the trip to Willow Cakes and Pastries in Niagara-on-the-Lake, christened "a place of pilgrimage for anyone with a sweet tooth" by James Chatto in the LCBO's Food and Drink magazine. Stepping into Willow Cakes and Pastries feels like a trip to the Continent and a European patisserie. Customers experience the feel of both a local bakery and an exquisite boutique - surveying the breads, chocolates, cakes and tarts in gleaming display cases, watching Catherine and her team at work through the viewing window or lingering over coffee and a newspaper. Whether you are in the market for a show stopping wedding cake, a dessert to impress your guests, a gift to be savoured, or a coffee and quick bite on the go, Willow Cakes and Pastries is truly a "must stop shop" in Niagara.
