My wife and I try to make it to Stratford every year or two to see as many plays as possible and always have a dinner at Rundles, by far the best restaurant in town. This year it once again lived up to our expectations - the food is outstanding and the ambience and service equal the food. Don't miss... More

The duck confit was amazing, food was so tasty and filling. Lemon tart was just ok. Thought the reviews were pure hype, but food lived up to it. It was our anniversary and the restaurant was aware, zero special treatment. They did not add any flare to the occasion AT ALL. Was unimpressed with that.

We have been coming to this restaurant annually for almost 40 years and it never disappoints us. The food is creative and superior, the service is attentive but not intrusive and the ambience is quiet amidst imaginative surroundings. For us, this is the best restaurant in Stratford and perhaps in all of Ontario.

Everything from the greeting at the door, to the duck, the lemon dessert, and the final chocolate surprise, was exceptional! Well done!

Rundles is the penultimate dining experience in Stratford - expensive, but worth every penny. The food is beyond wonderful, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is whimsically elegant. It has become, for us, a tradition we will always include with our Festival plays.

Went for a date night while in Stratford for the weekend. We loved it. We went for the cheaper fixed menu and found the whole experience to be really good value for the quality. The duck confit was incredible, as was the bread. The restaurant is gorgeous and contemporary. The only potential issue was that my partner wanted to order... More

The food is good but not terribly distinguished. Even without liquor the bill was over $150 a head after tax and tip. Outrageous! Service was slow and very haughty. I will never go back.

This sleekly-modern restaurant uses art and fluffly pillows on the chairs to provide feast for the eyes and ultimate comfort. But that's all just bonus to add to the exquisite food. From the generous bread and homemade butter, to the amuse-bouche (in our case a little present of dough wrapped around summer veggies and creme fresh -- tres amusing in... More

The menu seems limited but the ambience, the service and the food were all first rate. We had a culinary experience that most Toronto restaurants could not match!

(41st SEASON OF RUNDLES: MAY 26 TO SEPTEMBER 23, 2017.) "On the bank of the River Avon, Rundles is an idyllic spot for pre-theatre dining in Stratford. The room, all grey cement and pale wood, feels like a Mies van der Rohe-designed spa. Chef Neil Baxter, who's been head chef since 1981, has a flair for the dramatic, in a good way. The tender poached lobster with salmon roe, cubed cucumber, yuzu jelly and dill oil sparkles like a mosaic of multicoloured sea glass and tastes bright and clean. Flawless panfried rib-eye showcases classic training and finesse. At the end of the meal, the server suggests "the famous lemon tart." The bruleed concoction, studded with toasted pistachios and sided with smooth orange sorbet, lives up to its recommendation." (Toronto Life) Pre-theatre seating times: 5, 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, or 6 pm. Late dinner seating available after. Closed: Monday.
