There are a few other so-called diners in this city, but the one that just keeps providing a simple, yet worthy diner experience is Mars, especially their original flagship one on College west near Bathurst. Ownership may have changed. There seems to be a cleaner environment there now---the old staff/owners didn't hurry to upgrade or make spotlessness an important consideration.... More

We only visit the beaches once or twice a year, usually on a long weekend. And when we do, it's a long walk on the boardwalk and lunch at Mars. So today is no different and I'm pleased to say Mars is consistent with all of our visits so far. We miss the breakfast special of three eggs, etc that... More

Queen Street East is a mixture of upscale spots and franchises. Mars has its origins on College and Bathurst - the old time go-to place for breakfast. This new place on Queen is a good re-creation of and improvement on the original - which is saying a lot - great food and great value. The famous home fries and the... More

I actually ate on Queen street by the beaches. Had the all day breakfast. While the waitress was a little rough around the edges the service was good. The plate was 3 eggs, plenty of home fries and toast. I thought it was really or why would I have finished everything. I think this is as good as breakfast can... More

We visited this diner for lunch during a business meeting and found it to be wonderfully suited to all tastes at the table. They offer a wide range of selection in all areas of food. I had a bagel and lox which had lots of cream cheese (usually they don't come with enough!) and salmon. It was wonderful and filling!!

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
