Sadly our Amaya at Yonge and Lawrence is gone but we ate there regularly. Love the butter chicken and garlic naan. Great for take out.

Lunch with friends on a Saturday, the restaurant was very quiet. Yet staff was not on point. Table was not wiped down and we were first ones in for the day. Food was mediocre. It's not typical of the Amaya experience at the Amaya Indian Room now Street Food on Bayview. This is different. Waiter was less than attentive.

Decided to try their food. They were quite generous with the portions at the show. We went with the butter chicken and rice. I have to say it was excellent. Sometimes butter chicken can be a little rich for my liking but this was really excellent. They served it on a flavored rice which was also excellent especially with the... More

Another dismal Groupon experience. We felt ripped off at every turn. I knew we were going to be in for an eventful evening when we arrived. No one to man the front desk, greet you or see you to your seat. Usually you see happy people in a restaurant; no one was smiling here. It took a long time to... More

I visited this restaurant three times in the last few months with girlfriends, as it is a convenient location central to us all, once for lunch and twice for dinner.‎ It is a nice-looking restaurant, not at all kitschy, with very clean bathrooms downstairs. There is a long rather narrow room in front with a broader room in the back.... More

This place is near my work; so I got a groupon for it. My friend and I went on a Tuesday and saw a sign that it was closed on Tuesdays; there was no mention of this on the website. I did try to call them up on numerous occasions, but their voice-mailbox was always full - I started to... More

The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived still the waiter wanted us to sit in dingy corner near the noisy kitchen. The food took long to come- the roti was just uncooked flour. The waiter was unapologetic for the mishap. They even made us wait over 5 minutes to pay the bill. We had to go to the counter... More

We ordered a Lamb Jalfrezi and chicken Korma. Both were very good. The sauces were made ahead of time and when you choose the meat, they just add the sauce. Korma sauce was very rich. We came here using a Groupon coupon. Here are some unusual things: 1, the waiter wanted cash after using the Groupon coupon 2, He wanted... More

Went on a Thursday evening. Restaurant was fairly empty. We were greeted and seated immediately. One page menu which IMHO is a sign the chef has a narrower focus and generally equals to way better food. Server was generally attentive and made good suggestions. We had a couple of the curries and tried a couple of different naans. The garlic... More

We live in the neighbourhood & have visited Amaya Bread Bar many times over the years. The standard of food was always high, although somewhat overpriced. So I was pleased to find a $20 coupon online for a $40 meal. When we arrived we found the name had been changed slightly to Indian Bread Bar. As soon as we showed... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
