Food was delicious but not unique. It was my first time in Toronto and the high reviews brought me here. The first thing I noticed was the place is very small. There was no inside waiting area, so my group along with other guests had a one hour wait outside in the cold on a snowy Sunday. However once inside,... More

When you read their slogan "serving the best food in Toronto" - you are already going in with skepticism. That's a big claim. Small location with an intimate setting and for the type of food you are getting, accordingly priced. The lamb ribs are so soft I started to wonder if it was even real food. The fried chicken burgers... More

I just don't get the appeal. Small place with weird decor and even weirder food on small plates. It's not that I don't unusual food, because I do. Theirs is just not good. It was a corporate dinner. There was 10 of us there and we came based on the advice of one person who seems to love the place.... More

The Beast was a fine dining choice for our family before a show at Second City. For dinner expect tapas-style small plates. Portions were a bit small for four to share (with our 2 older sons) but we made it work. While waitstaff recommended 3-4 dishes per guest, we did just fine with 9 for family of 4. The staff... More

Beast is a hidden gem in a sea of over-priced, pompous restaurants on King St West. The food is creative, delicious and surprisingly well-priced. It's a refreshing departure from the King West prototype. A couple things to know: 1. It is small. If you're not early, there's a good chance you're not getting in. And that's part of what makes... 4 of us went for brunch on Saturday and had an amazing time. Our server Aline made the experience even better and certainly gave us a few chuckles. From the donuts, pollo loco sandy, French toast with duck confit, and two different Benny's on biscuits, all were tasty treats. Would go back in a heart beat and certainly recommend this... More

The food was really good, compliments to the chef. However for the price we paid for each dish we felt we should have got a little more. Accept that they are aiming for tapas type food but they should price the plates as tapas not as a main dish! The service was a little slow at times to but friendly.

I can't believe this place is rated highly. The service was horrible, definitely not kid friendly and the potatoes were stale. We called ahead and we're told we'd have a table within 20mins and ended up waiting 1.5 hours. The wait staff are pretty useless and you're lucky if someone comes by your table frequently to check if everything is... More

If you are going, get there early or be prepared to wait in line. Yes the food is that good. Like having brunch at grandmas house except for the Mexican twist part. An old house converted into a small restaurant you are eating in the living room! Coffee ground to order, homemade biscuits, fresh, fresh! If I was to go... More

Loved the restaurant, great food, great survive and great price. We came for brunch and had fantastic eggs and my meal came with a beer.

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
