This is a kitchy diner and they serve diner food that is nothing to rave about but it is good and the atmosphere is their own. It can be very busy on weekends for brunch but in mid afternoon it isn't too hard to get a seat.

I ate here for the first time today. Loved sitting at the counter on a stool. Soft drinks in bottles. Great sandwiches and fries are fresh and delicious. Staff is very friendly. An eclectic mix of diners. Has a neighbourhood feel.

We wanted to visit a place in the city that was a classic diner with a great atmosphere....... And it was. We loved it. The only negative is that we didn't know that we could just sit at the bar. We stood there for 15 mins waiting to be seated. Maybe because we hadn't been to a place like that... More

Food was ok, average breakfast food. Not worth waiting in line. Faster taking dirty plates off the table than taking the food order and refilling coffee. A good spot if you aren't interested in attentive service.

Run, don't walk, to The George Street Diner. Amazing Irish Breakfast (organic eggs, peameal bacon, real potatoes, beans, tomatoes) and the best part - homemade Irish Soda bread with homemade marmalade - who does that anymore? A classic diner experience - real people, genuine hospitality Well Done!

We had breakfast here while staying at the Holiday Inn down the road. The options were great for breakfast and the service was fast and kind. I ate the bagel sandwich which had egg cheese and bacon with home-fries! It was very yummy and worth what I paid for. Everyone left happy with their choices. Their menu had fair trade... More

Three friends and I stopped into the diner for Sunday brunch. There was a huge line but we were able to get in quickly as we were willing to sit at the counter (people wait 30 minutes for a booth). The food was reasonably priced and absolutly delicious. The staff was very friendly as well. On the weekends, they will... More

We loved it here. We had blueberry pancakes, eggs Benedict, a Canadian breakfast and plenty of good coffee. The staff were lovely, and we came back for a good atmosphere, tasty food and the music. Well done guys. Tim & Alex from Bath, England.

Been coming here for brunch for a long time, tried dinner for the first time. Slow cooked pulled pork wrap was probably the best pulled pork I've ever had. Good local beer selection. Very friendly staff every time we go. Prices are very reasonable as well. Thank you George Street!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
