Free Times Cafe is a mix of Bohemian flair, traditional salon, folk music, and a mix of homestyle food—just across from Kensington Market. The facade is deceivingly inconspicuous, compared to the comfy seating capacity. The rooms seat over a hundred indoors, and partition, so University...More

Free Times Café is the most enjoyable restaurant for brunch/lunch in Toronto. This is definitely my favourite place on Sundays. The food is incredibly delicious! The Buffet has a wide range of Mediterranean/Jewish dishes made to perfection. This Café is reminiscent of famous New York...More

Hubby and I enjoyed the vegan platter and cold micro brews on tap. Bonus was live entertainment. Judy Perly runs an excellent restaurant. Even the restroom is clean.

My fiancé and I went here for brunch. There were no issues with the food, but we were ripped off over a coffee. The server told us that coffee was complimentary with breakfast. My fiancé ordered the breakfast but she didn't want the coffee so...More

This place is rotten. I have never scored this low on trip advisor before. Hygiene is clearly not on their radar. From the carpet not being hoovered to keeping glasses of water pre filled to save 3 seconds of tap running from the lazy staff....More

We celebrated my mom's birthday this Sunday. What an excellence choice of a place. The food is delicious, the selection is impressive, great service, host is the owner, who also does a bit of stand up comedy and life Yiddish music. Very warm, homey ambience.

At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination

For over 30 years, the Free Times Cafe has been a staple on the Toronto roots music scene, with nightly live music showcasing some the best folk and acoustic artists in the city. In addition a diverse menu of Jewish, Middle Eastern, and Canadian dishes, we also serve up daily market-fresh specials, and are famous for the traditional Jewish fish and dairy buffet on Sundays.
