My mother and I visited Toro's Bakeshop early on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough to grab one of the few tables to sit down and enjoy our great coffees (they know how to make a proper flat white) and tasted a selection of born GF and non gluten free cookies, pastries and Scones. The cinnamon rolls are something... More

I had high hopes for this bakery. I was sure I visited on my trip to Toronto. I am always looking for alternative bakeries due to my gluten and dairy allergy. I tried the cupcake and ordered a banana loaf to go. Both were very underwhelming. These treats would not fool someone who wasn't used to gf goods. The typical... More

An awesome vegan, GF (& glutinous) bakery cafe. Friendly service. Very bright clean space with a seating area. I really enjoy the GF chocolate banana muffin and oatmeal chocolate chip GF cookies (my kids's fav). They have the ingredient list on display for their baked goods which help for allergies / sensitivities. I really enjoy the coconut milk (lower on... More

Came here with a friend during a walk along the beach. We had some fancy soda and split a savoury cheesy roll (with rosemary, I think) and a cookie. Really high quality stuff. Not much seating. I think they do dinners, but you've got to book in advance. Two little two-top tables outside, 3-4 two tops inside. Friendly staff. A... More

We were disappointed with our dinner reservation. First of all the place was dead with for the first hour being the only diners. The wine menu is both limited and VERY expensive given the restaurant. Food was average with no wows! Service was OK, but given we were the only ones certainly did not go out of their way to... More

Feel like being ignored, or treated contemptuously for no reason? Feeling good about yourself, and need someone to give you dirty looks and make snide comments to out you back in your place? Well then this is the place for you! Make sure you ask questions, the staff really hate those. If you smile, your friendliness will be met with... More

I travel over an hour just to pick up the vanilla gluten free donuts! They are delicious but I would recommend calling ahead or ordering them as they seem to sell out quick! Other great vegan and gluten free options as well!

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
