Large seating capacity, generous portions, fairly typical american style steak house. Dark labyrinth. with no views. Busy and a feeling of being rushed. Not a relaxing experience. I would not go there specifically for a diner out but it's a decent restaurant to go to after shopping or as a break from shopping.

After a few days of sightseeing and shopping in downtown Toronto my wife were looking for relaxing yet tasty restaurant for launch. We were lucky to find Baton Rouge restaurant on Yonge ( pronounced young) street The restaurant had a large choice and also had a special menu for lunch. My wife and I were looking for fish and were... More

Can be very busy. Tables in bar area often quicker. Food was very good. Service has been good in the past so won't give up on this restaurant just because of our most recent experience (waitress forgot to put our order in and we had to wait over an hour - they gave us free desserts and coffee). Convenient access... More

I have more familiarity with the culture of South Louisiana so this is my point of reference, but when I saw the name Baton Rouge on the signage during my recent stay in Toronto, I was interested to try this restaurant. I was expecting to find cuisine of the southern Louisiana or at least some semblance of it. Since I... More

We stopped in at the Baton Rouge Restaurant after a short shopping experience at the mall. We started with their Louisiana Spinach Dip which was a hot bowl of spinach dip mixed with artichoke hearts and imported cheeses. It was surrounded by hot crispy tortilla chips, with side bowls of picante sauce & sour cream. It was sufficient to satisfy... More

We planned to spend two nights in Toronto near the downtown area, and this was rated as a steak house near our hotel. Walking in on Saturday evening without reservations was not a problem. We had a nice server, who tried to be helpful. However, the food was not good. Specifically, the calamari resembled something out of a frozen box,... More

Baton Rouge on Yonge Street (Eaton Centre) in Toronto is an OK place to have dinner before a nearby concert or play. It gets very busy as it gets closer to 'show time' so be sure to get there before the rush.

We ate here after a long day And weren't up for wandering round to find anywhere else. It is as you would expect, a chain restaurant with big portions and reheated food. My rib sandwich was good but my wife's chicken wasn't great. She said the meat was fine but mash potato clearly was fresh. Not bad cocktails and good... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
