Private quiet place with great traditional Japanese food. The most popular dish are the soups (Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu). They also have a 7 courses menu of a daily selection from the chef.

You really have to know about this restaurant, you can't just see it walking down funky Queen Street West. Located on the ground floor of the office building on St Patrick, just off Queen Street, it's very popular with local crowds. Lunches can get busy. They have lunch specials, most $9.50. My favourite is veggie and chicken tempura with rice,served... More

Recently moved to Toronto. Before I can cook at home, I went to this places multiple times for lunch and supper. The internal decorate is that of Japanese style. The chef and waiters are Japanese. The food is average. Nothing special. But the location and environment are nice. They have private room inside. Service is a bit slow but within... More

Before sitting down, look at the fake food on a small table at the entrance! Those displays portray the specials. It will help you decide what you want. If you do not know the Japanese names for foods, it makes things a *lot* easier! I dined with a regular, who works at the U.S. Consulate down the street. She told... More

We found this one get a lot of good reviews on Yelp, so we tried. The sashimi, BBQ, and noodle soup are all very tasty, and the service is quick and polite.

I'm glad to have rediscovered this little gem. Their staff is top-notch and patient, and the menu is extensive. My Japanese friends love this place and so do I.

Ematei is in my opinion, one of the best Japanese (real) places for lunch in the city - prices are cheap like around $8.00 for tempura lunch special. I tried something new a tempura soba soup and it was DELICIOUS! The soup took me back to when I have visited Japan. Sushi is good but reminder hs wasabe in it,... More

Prices are reasonable and the food they serve is quite fresh and delicious. Some interesting options too. The venue offers a different kind of decor and environment too. Would definitely go back.

I was a often customer with this famous Japanese restaurant in Toronto. I love their food and the service is nice too but slow. If you don't mind spend two hours in the restaurant which is a pretty good place for having a sashimi and food.

We had New Year's Day dinner here with 2 friends and we decided to order by couple. We were given a delicious tradional Ozoni to start. A clear savoury soup with homemade Mochi and vegetables warmed us and opened our palate for what was to follow. We opted for the Masu and Take Sushi combos which entitled us to a... More

Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare.
