good no frills greek food from good people. The greek foods are all authentic and made on site. The mezedes (apps) are all good if a little salty sometimes (house made so it changes). Great greek and village salads. Souvlaki to die for. so tender and well grilled. If you don't eat pork I think they have a beef one... More

My partner and I decided to head to Grreektown yesterday and as we were walking there, I recalled The Friendly Greek from a few years ago. It was big, it was lively, it was "Greek." Great food, great atmosphere. I should have clued in when at lunch time, only one other table was occupied. Instead, I let my memories of... More

This restaurant recently moved across the street to a smaller space, which makes sense, given that their old space was CAVERNOUS! If you are looking for relatively inexpensive, fast, basic Greek, that's what you will get here. Nothing spectacular, just decent basic stuff.

Low key, family friendly, sports on the LCD on all the tvs around the restaurant , standard Greek fare with good portions at reasonable prices. Get the flaming cheese: saganaki. will be returning

Worst Greek food experience on the Danforth. A tasteless, poorly presented meal that we would rather forget. Rice was so over cooked it was laughable. Potatoes had absolutely zero flavour and chicken was dry and like rubber. The salad was covered in what tasted like canola or vegetable oil and the bread was, we think, a cold hot-dog bun with... Stopped for some take out on the Danforth, the Greek restaurant capital of Toronto. Too bad I ended up here. There were 2 tables of real customers and everything I wanted was on the menu so I ordered for take out. Sadly, the moussaka was just barely edible. A strong garlicky, oniony-spaghetti flavor dominated and the consistency was gross, like... More

The service was the worst I've experienced in a long time. The server never smiled or said "Thank you" at anytime. She didn't even want to explain the menu options. I may have given this restaurant a better rating if at least the food was good. The moussaka was really, really salty and had no flavor differences between the layers,... More

I have never had Greek food before and was in town for a Union convention. A friend who used to live in the area suggested we try this restaurant. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive. It was Sunday evening and a light snow was coming down. We were seated by the window so we could see the snow... More

For about 5 years, this was the go-to Greek restaurant for my friends and I for a get-together when everyone was in town. Th Souvlaki was always excellent. Almost everything we had was excellent except for the octopus. I had not been in about a year. I went tonight with my son. I don't know if Monday is different or... More

This rather large restaurant on Danforth Ave., in the heart of the Greek section of Toronto, is festive and the food is good and inexpensive. We were there during the World Cup and Greece was playing, so the street was particularly festive with people wearing Greek flags, skirts and scarves, and cars carrying small Greek flags. We had ekohito, wine... More

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
