Very good pub.The Guinness was perfect. We eat Sheppard Pie and Lamb Shank. One of the best pies. The lamb was absolutely perfect melting in your mouth with a good gravy and vegetables. The atmosphere inside is bringing you in old Ireland and the waitresses are part of it.Just wait to go back.

The drinks were good. Service was okay. Not as friendly as you would expect in an Irish pub. Food was good. The sea bass on special was excellent. Fish and chips were good. It was a good experience but not excellent and therefore 4 Star.

We heard this where the locals go so away we went. Good fish and chips. Had the special which was excellent. The draw was the bread pudding. We love bread pudding and can't say enough about it. Was saddened when we went back for more on Sunday. Service was great.

We went over the past weekend to PJ I'Brien's as something different. It had received great reviews from Blog. To, however, the wait staff were lack luster. They weren't warm, welcoming, and could hardly force themselves to be friendly. Attentive? Not whatsoever. As someone who has worked for years in the food industry, I was very disappointed. Our waitress lacked all... More

I liked the music here, and the pub atmosphere. Service was good, fast, and friendly. I had the fish and chips and found it ok. Not excellent. Portion size was small too. I wouldn't come back here unless I was meeting friends at this place. I found the nearby Irish Embassy Pub and Grill much better. Meals the same price,... More

Picked this place out because of the fish and chips recommendations. Was not disappointed. Beer was cold and food was hot. Loud in the bar area which is fine as it is a pub. Nice selection of beers on tap. Nice menu selection.

Toronto is becoming littered with pubs that claim to be Irish but in truth, few rarely make the grade when comparing to a true Irish pub. PJ O'Brien definitely looks and feels like an Irish pub. Overtime I spend time in Ireland I always have to have bangers and mash (with Brown Sauce) and I found myself craving them which... More

We both had the fish and chips which were absolutely amazing. The breadwinner and tarter sauce were to die for. The fries were so fresh and perfect. All of the staff spoke with Irish accents and made the ambiance just incredible. When the server, Erica, found out it was our anniversary, she brought us two shots of Jameson on the... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
