From the service to the food I give it 10 Stars, it was THE best meal I have ever had. I had the Fillet Mignon with rice and house pickled veggies. No words can describe what my mouth felt like when I took that first bite. The wine we had was Vinho Verde, Espadeiro, White Zinfindel. It was a very... More

Barberian's Steak House serves the best steaks in town. Amazing steaks done to perfection. We received a tour of one of their wine cellars and if you're a wine drinker then you'd be in heaven! Very impressive even to someone who is not a wine drinker. Groups can actually have dinner in the wine cellars or a number of private... More

One of the coolest restaurants in Toronto. The experience is almost like being in a local tavern, very humble. The food is seriously good and the wine menu is one of the top in Canada. It's like the quiet, humble, place which has a cult following and is a must try! Way better than Jacobs!

I had read some reviews about "The Barbarian" and having been in Seoul for some 2 1/2 months, I was looking for a good steak. This did not disappoint. I walked in on a Friday evening and was immediately accommodated. The staff were excellent and attentive. This is a cozy place and exactly what I was looking for. I had... More

We went to Barberians as part of my Bachelor party on a Saturday evening. We had the private Library dining room upstairs with a connected patio. Luckily, for a Toronto February, it was well above freezing so we could use the patio for drinks and freah air. As a group we had amazing oysters, pate, and smoked salmon starters. Then... More

Cold welcome at the entrance doesn't help to feel comfortable! A very common food. Even the steak was average. Quality of the product is ok. But it is sad to discover a Porterhouse in your plate over cooked and without any taste. Perhaps the chef do not think the seasoning is important.

Best steaks ever & grilled to perfection. Service was excellent. $ men, 4 steaks, 4 appetizers and 2 side orders plus 1 $155 bottle of vino came to $485 with tax. Largest wine list ever!

Referred by concierge from the Sheraton, major disappointment. Atmosphere was very good, upscale establishment. First thing the waiter had to tell us was one check per table, although he would split it and write the total down for us on the check... ok no big deal we could deal with that.... then the waiter informed us of the soup special,... Let's start with the food... If you're a meat-eater, this place is for you. Some very nice cuts of meat grace their menu, but they also carry some fish and poultry. The food was delicious, and the service was bang on. Today, despite being the first customers, they ran out of clam chowder. Disappointing... Menu items are on the expensive... More

I really cannot recommend this restaurant. The steak is fairly mediocre in terms of quality or choice and it's not cheap. The service is pretty good though but not good enough to make me want to come back.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
