Despite living in Toronto for decades, we recently "discovered" this wonderful restaurant on the frequent recommendations of friends. It is also known as "Jacques Omelettes" because of its long list of perfectly cooked, soft-centre French style omelettes, of which we had two. The menu also offers many other dishes. Jacques Sorin is the very French chef, his wife Martine manages... More

My friend and I were looking for some french cuisine and found this wonderful gem in Yorkville. It is a very small restaurant so make sure you call for a reservation. The food was wonderful and service was spectacular. My friend had the escargots and lamb. I had the onion soup and filet mignon. Delicious. We were too full for... More

We visited Jacques for my wife's birthday party and everything was excellent! Found was great! (I had mouthwatering filet mignon), my wife had fish. Onion soup is a must! Dessert was amazing! Nice and romantic. Service was friendly and professional. Bill for 3 persons (with wine and dessert and coffee) came to 220 (incl. tip). I highly recommend this place!... More

This restaurant has been around for some 38 years. It used to be famous for its' Omelettes and was called Jacques Omelettes. For nostalgic reasons we went for dinner. The food was definitely French Bistro food and had a nice selection of specials on offer. The desserts were also very good...some of the best sorbet in town (mango and raspberry).... More

Just got back from the restaurant. The food is amazingly fantastic delicious, especially , lamb cutlett- crisp outside tender inside perfectly cooked. Services are amazing like having food with good mates in their house. Absolutely nothing to complain.

We read previous TripAdvisor reviews and were keen to try this bistro. Absolutely exceeded our expectations. Yes it's upstairs but this is by no means a problem for us. Having taken a chance we walked and we're greated by a friendly waiter and seated. It's a perfect size restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Staff were very attentive to us and... More

Service was excellent, and prices were good for the area and food quality. It was nice not to be rushed even though the restaurant was fully booked. Not pretentious, just good food in comfortable surrounds, ideal for couples and friends

We had lunch here a few years ago when we last came to Toronto. Very glad we returned for dinner. Regarding the food and service, it is truly outstanding, Spouse had their Onion Soup ("best I ever had") and we both had the special filet mignon which was as good or better than upscale steakhouses. The upstairs restaurant is somewhat... More

I have not been in Yorkville for over 10 years and this Bistro has been there for over 30 years. I was downtown on business and looking for a place for lunch! The Bistro is very small and when it is full it is full. It is also on the second floor. The server was very friendly and tried to... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
