Merlot was suggested by a friend who lived nearby. A new experience for me. And i was impressed. Had the ambience and menu choices of a restaurant francais.... i had the croque madame (salmon inside the rarebit) a side salad and a glass of wine. My colleague had mussels.... and we were both quite happy. Out here in Bloor West,... More

Merlot is is a little French jewel in the Etobicoke area of western Toronto. We found it by accident when our planned restaurant was fully booked. The menu offers many French specialties including some the best escargot we have had in years. The wine list is extensive, offering wines in many categories and price ranges. We are glad we had... I read all the reviews and thought I would give Merlot another try. I was last here 2 year ago and it has not changed one bit. The meals were good but the service was HORRIBLE. I don't drink, so the moment they realize that you're not going to order wine, they don't give a crap about you. The bill... More

I was charmed by the ambiance of this French bistro. I enjoyed the duck comfit which is my go-to test of French restaurants and it did not disappoint. The duck was tender and tasty with a lovely reduction sauce. My dinner companion enjoyed the Moulesfrites "Pernod".

The food tasted fresh and well prepared. It was not particularly busy as we had a late business lunch, but the service was absent-minded as it took three asks to get a glass of wine. Will come back for an other try.

Delicious French bistro in Bloor West Village. The steak and frites are to die for. In the summer they have an adorable upstairs patio that you can sit on. Always have good house wine!

I have been to Merlot 3 times since early July & just last week, each lunch I chose a salad of different kind. I especially enjoyed the Cesar Salad with Chicken. The desserts are to die for. The service is excellent and moderate price. Worth a visit.

Merlot has an excellent atmosphere; except for the kids pop music they play (I'm confused about why they wouldn't play French music or something more mature). The food is quite nice; however, it is quite pricey. The waiters and waitresses are good, but it really depends on who is there and when you go. Sometimes you'll get a kind, friendly... More

Had a great long and tasty lunch at Merlot. True french bistro cuisine with great salad nicoise, pate, and tarte au citron. The service was superb in the french manner - not too intrusive and just in time - they watch the diners.

Thank Brian M
