I was impressed as soon as I entered. The decor, the small rooms for 2 that offer privacy and comfort. Service is personalized and attentive. No hovering while always available. The food is exquisite. They have a wonderful eggplant appetizer that is delicious; it has a beautiful sauce that has just the right amount of sweetness. The tempura vegetables are... More

My cousin and I came here on a Monday evening for dinner and had the Winterlicious menu. We were seated at a booth which was private and quite nice. The food itself was quite good and fresh and we were very full after the 3 course dinner. I ordered the Seafood Kaiso Salad - there was sooooo much seaweed -... More

Very good sushi on the classic side, the fish was very fresh. The soup was also really good. Just be prepared to pay the price for it.

I'm from out of town (US) and was real pleased to find this place. Makes the sushi restaurants at home seem much less exciting. Went for lunch. Service was fast. Food was fresh. Amiance was pleasant (includes sushi bar with ice beds for storing whole fish...).

Japanese chef, Japanese waitress, quality is on. You are very welcome here. You can find here what Japanese really eat as shabu shabu or Sukiyaki. A huge choice into the sushi menu and great bottle of sake. It is not the restaurant for everyone. You are far from the cheap Chinese-Japanese restaurant. Here it s for gastronome. For people who... and that is rare in the city as Torontonians may attest it... Excellent quality ingredients, nicely prepared and sometimes hand crafted dishes. A bit of Japanese atmosphere; you may even opt for traditional Japanese arrangements in separate rooms. Closed on Sunday, dinner only on Saturday.

Helpful kimono clad waitresses advising on food and drinks, excellent sushi and sashimi, great sake all made our dinner memorable. Considering the quality price was reasonable. Wasn't sure if two would finish the bottle of sake, and it went down down so smoothly with the sushi.

Good service, and excellent, fresh sashimi, cut in the true Japanese style. Chirashi was served in a square lacquer dish, nice display, and the fish was one of the best I have ever had. We sat in a small booth, which made for a nice romantic, private dining. They offer several sake tastings, all were very good, especially the Nigori.... More

Located in downtown Toronto, Nami is a quaint little sushi restaurant that has a lot to offer. If you can, request a booth. They are more private and make for an enjoyable experience. My friend had a saki flight which she loved. We both ordered an array of food including nigiri, hand rolls and sashimi. All of it was great.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
