We have stopped here in the past for dessert which we enjoyed and therefore decided to return for a full meal. The menu (Sunday brunch) is eclectic but has a number of Thai-Laos dishes. We had the curry chicken soup (special of the day) which was excellent. The two main dishes we ordered were the Khao Soy Gai (chicken curry... More

First time there. Lovely little restaurant. We had reservations and they knew we were going on to a show. Service was charming and fast to accommodate our quick turn around time. Butternut squash stuff pasta and I had Red Curry Seafood Hot Pot which was absolutely amazing.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal here with our son. We had homemade soup and good options for vegan diners. The desserts are homemade and amazing!

We went for lunch and it was amazing. The lunch selection was awesome, we ordered the spring rolls (not fried ones) and dumplings both were delicious! I don't consider myself a Thai expert but I eat it often and from a lot of places and their Pad Thai is one of the best I've ever had. Not to mention their... More

Get there early cause this delight fills up quickly. I've been a few times and seen a variety of meals, all of which were great. But the one dish that really stands out is the calamari - best ever. Obviously fresh and perfectly prepared to avoid the chewiness. This melts in your mouth.

The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and this is emphasized through tables crammed together that don't leave much room for privacy. It is dark and loud and while some people enjoy this, I thought it was a bit overwhelming. The party I was with had to yell to hear or be heard, which is not ideal. The wait staff was... More

Queen Mother Cafe offers an eclectic menu and very tasty food. We were a family group of six and everyone found something on the menu they were happy with. The menu offered Lao / Thai dishes, a Sri Lankan Curry, Italian, Burgers and a couple of vegetarian options. The Lao / Thai dishes were very authentic, not dumb downed for... More

A consistently great spot on Queen West , frequented by the area's business crowd for seated lunched. Tables are a mix of booths and tables. Casual. Ecclectic Brit decor which includes artwork/paintings available for sale. The lunch choices are a fresh twist on Asian flavours, reasonable prices, speedy service typically. A great spot in toronto, highly recommended.

From the outside it looks like an ordinary pub, nothing special. However, on entering you can see how popular it is, it's 5pm on a Sat night and already there aren't many tables left! Winterlicious is on but this establishment isn't participating, they don't need to, the prices are great and the menu a great surprise. It's obvious this restaurant... More

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
