Visited this restaurant at the recommendation of someone who goes regularly..while the ohers in the group did enjoy their curry meals and soup, the Pad Thai was mush with no flavour and not a bean sprout to be found. It appeared that the rice noodles were precooked and put in the microwave to heat up..it ended up to be a... More

I had the Chicken Pattaya......best meal I have had in a long time! Breaded chicken with thyme, onion, bell pepper, carrot, honey and lime chili sauce served with a bowl of rice! The best.....it was a huge serving for a very reasonable price of $8.75 and so fresh and delicious! I ate the whole thing it was so irresistible!

Don't go here for a romantic meal but do go excellent food. It's noisy, crowded and borders on chaotic but worth it

I've been to Salad King many times and it's consistently been great service and very good food for the price point. Service is always fast and servers are very polite and helpful. Portions are massive (for a woman!) so unless I'm famished, I can easily share or take away leftovers which is always nice. I've taken many friends from Toronto... More

While the prices are good, especially for the quantity server, the quality suffers. I had the Phud Thai noodled, which sadly tasted very bland.

Even though they have moved across the street to a new location this place has been around for many many years. I remember when this place was a hole in the wall catering to university students on a budget and they still do. I love the casual cozy atmosphere and updated decor. Food is still great and affordable. When looking... More

I went to university close by and used to go as often as my budget would allow. Now whenever my husband and I go back to Toronto we have to go to Salad King a few times during our stay. (he also went to the same university). Everything on the menu is always good but the curries are our favourite.... More

I had a pleasant lunch at Salad King. Stopped in by myself and was seated by a friendly member of staff. Service was good throughout my visit and I was never left hanging. Menu was decent, with a reasonable selection of veggie options thrown in. Paid a very reasonable sum for main and a beer and was left in peace... More

So glad my friend told me about this place, the food was amazing, and service was fast!! I'd call this one of Toronto's hidden Gems!

A tasty and economical lunch but the place is crowded and noisy. Food quality is good but it just feels like we were pushed quickly through so they can flip the tables. Not so great for a quiet lunch!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
