We've been here several times, the first time by chance. Parking is a bit difficult, but if we're in the area we'll often stop by. It's simple, comforting and cheap. Haven't been to Japan but went with two people who had and they said it was authentic. Their green tea ice cream was delicious too!

Its been a while since I last had okonomiyaki at the Okonomi House Restaurant on Charles Street near Yonge & Bloor. My pork okonomi was crisp on the outside and softer in the middle and just as tasty as I remember. I forgot to ask for the seaweed & bonito flakes ($.50) but did order a bowl of rice ($1.65)... The Okonomi House was a regular haunt for my husband when he attended U of T many years ago. We don't live in Toronto so we don't have many chances to eat here but when we do we are never disappointed. The food is good, very reasonable, served very hot and fresh. The staff were friendly and kept a close... More

I have been eating at this place since 1978. I'm definitely showing my age but I used to live in the area and now I'm not far, so we still go back for dinner about once a week. It's cheap and delicious. It's not fancy, always busy, offers quick service but you won't feel rushed and the food is different... More

This place has been here forever, I have been coming here for about 20 years. I have NEVER had a bad meal here. This restaurant is known for their okonomiyaki pancakes and teriyaki, which come in several meat and seafood options. You can eat like royalty here for under $25, with a beer. I would highly recommend this little gem... More

This restaurant features on of the best okonomiyaki I ever had. You can choose what protein you want with your Japanese pancake. Then they will cook it in front of you. It costs around $8 - $10 for a pancake (excluding tax + tip). The place is kinda small but the staffs were friendly!

They serve a range of different okonomiyaki and terriyaki dishes. I've had better okonomiyaki before, the ones here are good but not great. It's a good place to drop by for quick lunch or dinner. Their terriyaki dishes actually tops your expectation, as they are famous for their okonomiyakis. You can ask for more sauce, but the katsuobushi is extra.

It's probably family-owned. The staff is very friendly. Very affordable. You must try the Japanese pancakes. It's their speciality.

We had lunch here with our daughter and her husband because we had business in the area and looked this place up beforehand. It seemed interesting because although we like Japanese food in general, we had never had Okonomiyaki which is their specialty, and the reviews looked pretty good on Trip Advisor. We arrived about 12:30 and although the place... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
