Living in Toronto all my life you would have thought I'd have been to this establishment. My first time was in August of this year and I was very pleasantly surprised! Great portions of good food made for an enjoyable, if not memorable, evening out with the boys.

We were lucky to have spied this pub in passing. It turned out to be an amazing evening of great beer and great music! The owner's hospitality cemented our enjoyment. If you are looking for an authentic Irish Pub, stop in and relax in this homey atmosphere!

Exactly what you want in a pub. A place with deep history, excellent draught choices, and great food. The founder Mr McVeigh is often behind the bar, pulling pints, and is a fine host. If you like a good pint of Guinness, look no further than McVeigh's. Cheers!

Charming but a little "tired" if you know what I mean. Met Mr. McVeigh, been there 54 years. Charming guy.

We came in to McVeigh's Irish Pub to have a quick beer and stayed for 3 hours! We did not eat while being there so I cannot say anything about the food. The staff was super friendly and fast to check if we were in need of anything else. The Mike Darcy Band that was playing was so good! Everyone... More

There are loads of plastic Irish pubs whose sole qualification for being Irish is that they serve Guinness, have a picture or two of road signs in Donegal and a faux Hibernian name (You know who I’m talking about, Finn McCools). McVeigh’s however, is the genuine article. For starters, it’s run by Irish people. The night we were in there... More

Went for a few beers as the pub was near our hotel . Lots of choices for beer , with their own brand named "1916" . Menu is written on an black board with a small but nice selection. Nice waitress, cozylittle bar with a small deck out back.

Like a lot of this style of pubs, there is a good selection of Irish/English and Canadian beers as well as pub fare. There was a large group of rugby players who has reserved a spot when we arrived but the host found us a spot, the waitress got us set up with some eats and all was well! Almost...the... More

Staff were the friendliest people we met in Toronto. The pub was filled with Irish people, who are always outgoing, friendly and like their Guinness. I wish we lived in Toronto so we could spend more time at this pub. We love Ireland and we had the Irish experience that we cherish so much. The bartenders poured out Guinness properly,... More

Was hankering for a Guinness before dinner and noticed this place on the taxi ride to my hotel which was nearby. Stopped in and had a seat at the bar. Lots of beers on tap and a good choice of Scotch and Irish whiskey. Service was good and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The stout is served... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
