We visited Pogue Mahone Pub and Kitchen on Apr 27 for a celebratory lunch. As we were a party of 12 a reservation was made a few days prior to our arrival. Once we arrived and checked in they had lost our reservation! There was no effort to apologize, they said we can seat you in the back-it sounded like... More

We found this place online and we are so happy we did! $4 Mimosas to start your weekend off right... Great brunch selection and fast service! Our waitress was friendly and informative. The prices are right!

the new renos are lovely, but we were both disappointed by the food, particularly the shakshuka. it was very liquidy and flavourless...and we were both left hungry after (and we are not big eaters!) service is also disappointing, as the server didn't check in with us until we were pretty much done with the food, despite the restaurant not being... First time visit with an old friend, and tried three of their seasonal beers and was impressed. Chased them down with a plate of nachos that were pretty much just that, a plate of nachos. Next time will try something more substantial on the menu as there looked to be some appealing choices. Overall, can't really comment on the food,... More

The decor is OK. The recent renovations are welcome. The service is friendly and efficient. Good choice of beers on tap. The food is ordinary at best.

First time to the new space and it is really nice but it seems as though they forgot to hire staff. Waited at the door to be seated - no one helped us. Waited 15min for someone to take a drink order. Drinks did come quickly but that is the last time we were spoken to. We were ready to... More

We went as a group for a pre Christmas lunch and this was a very busy spot. When we arrived, with reservations, they had seated people at the section we had previously arranged with the manager, so we were forced to sit in another area. This area was fine, however they were so short staffed! We didn't get drinks until... More

We dropped in for lunch with a friend and had a great time and the food was good. The staff were welcoming and accommodating as they could be. The space, however, isn't wheelchair friendly, I managed to negotiate but it wasn't easy. The washroom is completely inaccessible. I'd go again but I'd avoid it when crowded because it would be... This old staple of the pub scene has just reopened after a full makeover. New look and feel - less Irish pub - more light - feels very spacious. New menu - great beer selection and feature drink - and to live up to the Pub & Kitchen tag line, they have great food items - elk burger wow'd me.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
