If you walk too fast down the street you just might miss the entrance, it really is a hole in the wall. A few years ago the city lifted the ban that made the "Junction" a dry area and since then the number of bars have exploded. The Hole is small, with less than 40 seats. They don't take reservations... More

Nice cosy bar in the Junction area. Good food options with a good selection of beers. Worth a try if in the area.

Drink, that is. The Cosmo is banal drink you would think, but not when concocted by Evan who passes his hands over it, transforming it into a magical brew. The food is good, the atmosphere cozy, the service friendly, but today, December 2016, the cosmo is the takeway. The lentil+cauliflower curry: same deal. Lentils: meh. Cauliflower: meh. But this dish... More

We have been here a few times. It fills up fast since its such a small place. The atmosphere is lively and tight. Live music is a fun touch. Its a bit of a gem.

So, this is a small place, no reservations, in the Junction. We landed early, around 6:30, and in short order were able to snag a booth for the three of us. Soon after we arrived the flow through the front door was steady and people had long waits, or had to leave. Long waits are worth it, though, because this... More

I'll say one of the coolest neighborhood bars you'll ever see. They have nice Canadian food and impressive line up of beer. Drinks are reasonable $, food is quite tasty ambiance is really really lax.

If you like Oysters you gotta check out this place on Tuesdays. Oysters were small but very good and the best thing is there only $1.00 each! I haven't found a better deal yet for oysters and would recommend this place to get your oyster fix. They also had a good selection of beer and a big bar to sit... More

Small portions but food was tasty, interesting types of beer. Didn't have enough nerve to try The Flying Monkey Smashbomb.

The food is well prepared and served fresh at all times. They have a daily deal of a meal with a pint of beer until 7pm. It draws the neighbourhood. What a welcoming feature. Being opposite the indie ale house almost requires to offer a nicely curated choice of local beers and it's indeed a very good selection. But the... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
