By far the best place to have breakfast and lunch in Montreal. The simplicity of the grilled sandwiches coupled with the good ingredients makes them perfect. The pastries and danishes are also a must try.

We always visit Olive & Gourmando when we are in Montreal. We love the vibe of this place and enjoy the delicious "spicy poach eggs" dish. The service is always very friendly and the coffee and juice, consistently good.

A joy of this fresh homemade food business is the option for dining in, or convenience of the take away menu for your time wandering out the city. If our chicken sandwich is representative, expect the chicken to be moist, combined with delicious flavors of avocado, pineapple (subbed for mango not available) and onions on a chewy dense sandwich loaf.... Had the healtny salad, cuban, capppucino and dirty chai. All were great. Long line up but got seated quickly.

Wonderful lunch at Olive and Gourmando! Sandwiches were wonderful and so were the salads! Only issue I had with our lunchtime service was that we felt rushed. I totally understand that an eating establishment needs to turn over tables quickly during a lunchtime rush. But when I have my hands on my plate and am still enjoying my last tasty... More

This is a nice restaurant near the port. You may have to wait a tad to get in. Fresh pastries and an egg dish dejour. Some good yogurt dishes as well. I feel that hype sometimes creates hype without foundation. That is not so here as this is a good fun place in a neat area of town. But exceptional... More

Very quaint Euro cafe in the old city. We had to wait a few minutes for a table on a busy mid-Saturday. We had a table at a bar like area looking out on the very a Euro looking street. People watching at its finest while enjoying awesome espresso drinks, Panzella salad, soup of the day , Cuban sandwich and... More

Has to be one of the best place we have had breakfast on vacation or anywhere else. Fresh baked bread and pastries that are decadently tasty. The "egg on your face" sandwich is an explosion of flavor with just the right mix of heat, crispy bread, cheese and tomato! Do not miss this place when in Montreal

We stopped by O & G this morning after family members recommended it to us. We couldn't have been happier! The coffee was nice and strong, I am still dreaming about the poached egg on your face panini, and the fruit salad was fabulous. I highly recommend going here for breakfast. We plan on returning again!

Thank Becky L

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
