Walking down rue Saint Laurent we were accosted by two charming 8-10 year olds who breathlessly asked us (in French) whether we were looking for somewhere to eat and handed us a card which explained that the profits of this restaurant go to 4 charities whose focus is children. Inside we were greeted by a restaurant being run by children... More

While we were glad to know all profits from this restaurant go to charity, we were happy to try it's fare. Service was pleasant and prices low. The Chicken broth was excellent as the very tasty Dahl soup. Excellent Mihn sandwich (with pulled pork) on a firm and fresh round bread. As a dessert the Riz Qu lait de coco... More

Delicious food! Duck confit sandwich and arrabiata gnocchi were delicious, Indian Dahl soup also amazing. Special soup today was tomato which was really good also. The reason I'm giving 4 stars was expensive glass of wine since my gf had a glass of rose for 14.5$ and the waiter that had his second day there today made a mistake and... More

HI David, Thanks for your great review. For the waiter it was a volunteer as we do work with mostly volunteers as waiters and yes sometimes errors do happens. Thanks for understanding and hope to serve you soon again! Judy More

This place is run by volunteers who give their time so that the profits go to the associations the restaurant supports. There is also a "discharging room" where you can break a plate or throw stuff on the ground for a small sum. Very nicely decorated and can cater events like weddings too!

About 20 of us came here for our friend's birthday last Saturday night (Nov 12). First, the restaurant is a great size -- especially for groups like ours -- and really liked the decor. The ambience was great. The service - provided by both staff and volunteers - was great; folks there were friendly and helpful when we were placing... More

We had a great time eating at Robin des Bois ! The food was excellent and the service was great. Though they were not professional people - I mean it is not their regular job, they were deeply involved, kind and so sincere in their recommandations ! The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, which tend to be rare in Montreal.... More

I really loved this place, food was zoo good! but its supper expensive for the small portions you get, which are good but too light and not filling, I had to oder 4 dishes and I was still hungry ( ordered the salad + octopus) they charged 8 dollars for salad, 10 dollars so 18 dollars just there for 2... Description
Robin des Bois is a not-for-profit organization which donates all its profits to four field organizations working directly in the urban setting. The community: at once our motivation and our inspiration. It is staffed, for the most part, by volunteers, and all the profits made by the restaurant and through the sale of merchandise are redistributed to local charities working directly within the community to ward off solitude, social isolation and poverty.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
