I can't believe all the raving reviews about how great the noodles are. It tasted horrible.. Bland and poorly cooked. The xiao long bao is probably the worst I have ever tasted in the world. I don't recommend it at all.

Unlike many reviewers, I don't care that the venue is unexciting or small. Not do I care about the all cash policy. Waiters appearing rude to American standards is, in my experience, also part for the course in actual Asia. That being said, I ordered the general Tsao Chicken. This is a dish advertised as a specialty and as a... More

The food is delicious with great portions and the service is FAST. The place is small but we didn't wait for a table. It is clean and cozy. At Lunch a Saturday, we never wait for water or the food and the staff is really friendly. For two big girl we have order : General Tao, Pork Dumpling (10) and... More

We got take out last night as one traveller was not feeling well. It is close to the Embassy Suites, so a quick still to restaurant. So popular and tiny we had to wait outside on the street for our order which the gentleman brought out. Cash yes as others have said but cheap too. We had vegetarian spring rolls... More

We were looking for a good Chinese restaurant during our vacations at Montreal and we found this one with good reviews. It was amazing! The food is really good, delicious and well served. The Yasmin tea is also marvelous! The place is a little bit small but we didn't wait for a table. It is clean and cozy. This place... More

I ended up having to go to this restaurant because my wife wanted to eat Chinese food and this was the closest to our hotel. I found the food below average. The price was comparatively cheap. Also this restaurant doesn't take cards and only takes cash. This was very inconvenient.

It's a hole in the wall & cash only - BUT that's about all the negative feedback I can give. The food is AMAZING, inexpensive, great portions & service is FAST. general tao's chicken - order 2, the portion is HUGE, but it's just that good stir fried singapore style noodles - light and delicious if you want something that's... I reviewed this place last August and concluded that there was no reason to return. Somehow we either forgot or hoped that we'd have a better experience this time. No. Shanghai noodle was way too salty, dumplings were too plain, General Tso chicken was ok. Service - same as last time. And, yes, cash only for payment is a pain.

My husband and I were disappointed in the food here, despite other positive reviews. The noodle dishes were bland, nothing at all special. It was inexpensive, but I would have rather paid more for something delicious. Would not recommend.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
