Great ambiance for a quiet and romantic dinner. Good background music in a beautiful Old Montreal setting. In addition to the excellent service, the food was amazing as well. We started off with drinks from their special in house collection which were different and creative. We shared the oyster combination with foie gras however we needed to separate the two... More

We were quite enchanted with the combination of tastes in our dishes. I had perfectly cooked black cod, perfectly balanced with sweet, bitter and salty side dishes. Fairly expensive, but well worth it.

Happy you enjoyed your meal! Our chef seeks top of the line ingredients and sources locally as much as possible which does have an effect on price, but most of all on the quality and taste of our dishes, which we feel is most worth it! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! More

Barroco is a cool place. It has medieval decor. It has very good service. There are many dinner choices but not too many. We both ordered the black cod. It tasted great but was so small. Really small portions. We were still hungry. We tried a nice maple old fashioned cocktail too and had some tasty oysters but only 2... More

Just wished they'd mentioned when we booked the reservation that Barroco can't seat minors due to their bar license. At any rate, the sister spot next door had super fresh seafood, awesome pasta and great service!

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you! Due to the nature of Barroco's liquor license, it is an 18+ establishment and we do make a point to mention this to all guests making reservations for parties of 3 or more. Luckily you were able to enjoy Bocata! We hope to have the chance to serve you at... More

A really outstanding experience. Not a large restaurant, very cozy, but still felt very happening. And that was on a Monday night. Food was first class, as was the service. Old building, with a lot of character and great music playing in the background. Several people eating at what looked like a nice bar.

We had the charcuterie and olives for app. It was all one kind of olives, and prosciutto ham with butter and mustard and some pickles. Was good..: but no Cheese. We had the paella and chicken, both were very very good! Desert was creek brûlée and the merengue . We loved them. I'm giving 5 stars for the ambiance and... More

Our experience at Barroco was amazing! Me and my friends were served at the bar by Guillaume who was fantastic. We had the Charcuterie and the Foie Gras, both were well plated and had wonderful pairings to go along with it. The Foie Gras was one of the best I've ever tried, would go back just for that! Drinks had... More

We were made for experiences like this. Showing up with no reservations, 8pm on a Friday and two seats at the bar. The beautiful mixologist (whose name I cannot find at this moment) helped us wade through the cocktail menu and came up with just the right starter for each of us. Local gin made my husband smile. When we... More

Description
At Barroco you can expect to enjoy inspired French Mediterranean fare in a warm and cozy atmosphere. With its dim lighting, stone walls and inspired decor, we offer fine dining that is chic but certainly not stuffy! Our friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff will do everything to make sure your experience is a memorable and enjoyable one. Reservations are highly recommended as our small 45-seat dining room tends to fill up quickly! We'll be happy to speak to you on the phone or you can head over to Bookenda to book a table. Looking forward to seeing you!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
