We bought into Komiko's Groupon and were excited for our first sushi à volonté in quite a while. But our experience was far below our other experiences in Montreal. The quality of the fish is quite nice but it is wasted in nigiri and hand rolls that contain an enormous quantity of rice; way too much for one mouthful. And... More

Started of with a miso and wonton soup. The miso was too salty, while the wonton had almost no salt and (oddly) was spicy like they accidentally dropped a hot pepper in there, so both soups were a disappointment. The shrimp tempura was crispy, fresh and tasty, as was the dipping sauce so no complaints there. The salmon sashimi was... More

I had bought a Groupon for 2 at Komiko and booked my reservation on-line. The Groupon had a value of $43.98 but I paid only $23.20. I could only use the coupon from Monday to Thursday after 5 pm. The Our waitress, Jenny, seated us quickly and explained what we could order and what was not included on this special.... More

Sure Groupon will attract with good deal offers, but Groupon does not guarantee a menu. The owner decides what you will eat for that price. I ended up paying a very high price for the quality of food. Needless to say, NO SASHIMI !!! Some restaurants offer great food and access to full menu, others make it feel like they've... More

The experience would be enhanced by playing Japanese music. Wait staff were helpful in explaining menu items. Plenty of choice and warm sake to sip on, what's not to like? Serves are very generous so don't order too much to start with.

Used a groupon 2 for 1. I went early on the last day of the groupon and the manager was not accommodating saying they were full even though the place was empty. I told him we would eat quick and leave early. He said he can accommodate only if we paid full price and leave quickly and not use the... More

We were looking for a close-by asian restaurant to this one after reading about it on this site. It turned out to be closed for holidays so we went into Komiko as it looked good and very busy. We ordered off the menu rather than all you can eat. It was really good. Sushi was tasty and well made and... More

i am from out west and now live in montreal. having said that, i grew up eating sushi. i bought a groupon and it was about to expire so we went here for our date night. first of all, the place is too loud and it's hard to talk to the person sitting across from you. it took five minutes... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
