Highly recommended, well-known place in Old Port. New Years dinner was a fabulous taste sensation but the real stand out was the interesting wine pairing introduced by a knowledgeable and personable sommelier. Would love to return on a quiet night and delve into more of his repertoire. Since the restaurant is quite small it has an exclusive air which is... More

This was our first visit to Les 400 Coups. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed it very much. The service was good and very friendly, and the space is nice buy not formal or stuffy. Will definitely go back oh of these days.

The service was excellent, there was maybe one dish that was very good, 2 of them been unusual and interesting but not amazing, and another 2 was ok. The desert was terrible. The portion very very small. There is way better restaurants in Montréal.

I had the tasting menu ($75 a person). It was five courses. We were served an amuse bouche, then a brussels sprout and ricotta creme based dish that was phenomenal. Next was sashimi with juniper, followed by homemade tortelloni with mussels, oyster mushrooms, and pickled onion. The main course was gineafowl with fennel, barley, and cranberry. Dessert was a Jerusalem... More

This wasn't a traditional tasting menu but the food was good, the vibe is nice (modern in an old building situated in Old Montreal) and it was very enjoyable. The dishes were all very interesting with multiple unique elements in each plate making the tastes complex but still enjoyable (everything was innovative but good enough that I wanted to eat... Great place for a friends dinner (we had 8) with lots of choices for all. Portions large, drinks well crafted, and excellent wines.

We went for the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was excellent and so inventive. A really nice surprise. It could deserve a 1 star Michelin without a doubt. The choices of wines was also well thought. Our waitress knew perfectly the content of the plates and the history of the wines served. That contributed to our nice experience

What a treat! We loved the food, especially the shared plates concept. Everything was wonderful. The wine sommelier was especially helpful.

Although we had a superlative dinner a year ago, choosing the a la carte menu, a return family celebration left us wondering. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing. The chef went for locavore inventiveness but never cleared the hurdle. Dessert was flat as the prologue. Sad now that road construction is complete and access is unimpeded.

A plate sharing place with an intriguing mix of dishes, based in local cuisine traditions (brilliant potatoes 3 ways starter) extensive and iterating wine list. Patient and helpful service

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
