Tasteless poutine, burnt burger, slow service, and tired surroundings. The burnt burger was replaced and we were offered a round of free drinks as compensation, but the long wait for the replacement was too much. Despite the name, the poutine was nothing special. There were more curds than fries in my dish and the gravy was as tasteless as the... More

Went here with my BF last weekend. The poutine was delicious, was the service was awful. The waiter was really grubby, slovenly, he was dressed really casual, which I get is a style, but this was exaggerating: his sweatshirt was dark and had crumbs and stains on it, it made us feel like the place wasn't clean, he did not... I LOVE poutine so I did a bit of research before heading to Montreal to ensure that my first real poutine experience was amazing and let me tell you, we made a good choice! Easy to find in Old Montreal, the restaurant had a very cool and welcoming atmosphere. Service was great, fast and nice. I had the Fried Onion... More

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Saint Paul Street. Had heard about Poutine but never tried it. We split a smoked beef Poutine. Could not be happier. Definitely check this place out. Great view from the second floor for people watching as you eat. The two guys that greeted us at the front door made us feel very welcome.... More

So I really wanted poutine and this was the closest place. I should have walked a little farther. Absolutely, hands down, the slowest service I have ever had! I ordered a smoked meat sandwich with fries and my friend ordered fried onion poutine. My sandwich was super small and came without fries and there were no onions on her poutine.... More

Old Montreal tour, we wanted to get an authentic poutine experience. Service was slow but staff were very friendly. Food was delicious and the family enjoyed it.

I am fairly sure that this stuff is more addictive than crack cocaine, and probably worse for you, but it is really good and you owe it to yourself to try it at least once.

We ordered the regular poutine and it was large and fantastic! A great amount of curds and gravy for a great price! I would recommend if visiting and would like a good poutine!

My husband and I stepped in here for some authentic Canadian poutine, but we were a bit disappointed. I got the poutine with chicken, which came out half warm (not hot) and half cold. Not sure how they accomplished that. My husband ordered the smoked meat platter with regular fries but received the smoked meat sandwich with poutine. The people... More

I'm an advocate of poutine and have tried many restaurants in Montreal. Montreal poutine unfortunately didn't live up to the name. Service was accommodating and prompt just didn't find the food anything special. Many other great options and value for poutine.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
