Be prepared for an unbelievable selection of scotch! The atmosphere is great too! This place mixes class with comfort. Service was great and l'Ile Noire is conveniently located. I love this place and try to come here as often as possible!

We spent a couple of hours Sunday afternoon with Mary. She was very kind and made a great margarita. I enjoyed a couple of Bourbons that were new to me. Highly recommended.

If you're a scotch fan, this is your place. Well located and nicely decorated. But mostly, the choice is awesome. Even though I'm not the biggest scotch fan, I was offered very friendly advice and the barmaid was able to find something for me to try. It was very good! The atmosphere of the place was great and the music... More

In the Latin Quarter, on Saint-Denis street, walking distance from the Quartier des spectacles, L'île Noire offers a huge selection of Bourbon, scotch, whiskey and beer. The staff is pleasant and helpful in making the right choice, or simply accompanying you in trying out various libations. Not much in terms of food, whereas only appetizer-type plates are offered (duck, goat... More

Scottish-Celtic brews, great ambiance located in Montreal 'Latin quarter' near the Univ. of Quebec on St Denis street just across the street from the Theatre St-Denis. Good clientèle (was there in late afternoon) and service, one of the nicest in central, downtown Montreal. Highly recommend.

Whiskey lovers get the chance to sample high end and obscure whiskeys in a wide range of highland, lowland, Islay, Speyside etc. Excellent setting to enjoy Scotland's best export. We also tried some of the gin selections. Great service and comfortable setting. Note - it is on the second floor above McD

Tourist tip : perfect bar for an afternoon drink or slow evening cocktail. Ask the waiter if this is the first time you try scotch (you might precise your budget, since some brands can be costy). Fwiw, my favorite one for a beginner drinker is Glenfarclas 12 years. Tl;dr: It is my favorite pub for almost 20 years now. Great... More

I was quite excited to learn of this little gem. I was even more pleased to see they had whisky from the Campbeltown region. My real let down was the paltry food selection.

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
