After eating across the street at Schwartz's, visited La Cabane for drinks. Alex the bartender was very welcoming and friendly. The good vibes continued as we started talking to another tourist and locals. Language differences were irrelevant as we bought each other drinks and had a great time exchanging stories. Alex was a fantastic host and provided great service. The... More

I'll be totally honest with my review. We didn't plan on coming here. We actually planned on eating at the pizza place across the street but they were closed so we came over for a beer to wait. 2 pints and a tapa later we were really digging this little spot. We sat at the bar and met with the... More

Had another lovely visit to La Cabane as we got into Montreal. Hubby and I had awesome burgers, poutines, drinks and the coffee. Seriously the coffee made the drive to Montreal worthwhile. Although it was busy we were quickly made a spot and felt very well taken care of. Service was excellent, wish we can have this establishment back home.

This eclectic gem on the main is a must stop for food and drinks. We went on a Saturday night and had the BEST experience. Although I am not too familiar with Portuguese cuisine, I am hooked. Our meal was Devine. The pork and clams was wonderful. Hubby had the burger because he had read that they make one of... More

This place is understated but gosh the food is beyond amazing. We're travelling through Montreal and decided it's much better to eat a little away from the overpriced central areas and we settled on this. The service could be a bit quicker but we were in no hurry as we wanted to spend a few hours there. The staff are... More

First, I want to say that the food was very good. Where my indifference is with the speed of service. 10 minutes to order. 15 minutes to get the bill. 10 more minutes to actually pay. If you go, plan to be there a while and pack your patience. There is a good ice cream shoppe two doors down that... More

Very happenstance and perfect. We were starving and getting crabby. Food came fast, service was great, and the food wonderful.

I've been coming here for decades, it's a great spot for any occasion but I go there to watch hockey. What I love about this place is that not only are their daily specials so diverse but very reasonably priced too! Everyone seems to know one another, a great sign of local community spirit.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
