My friends and I affectionately described this experience as the Macaroni Grill of Canada. The venue looks incredible, but the food ... MEH. The food was not bad at all, but it wasn't incredibly flavorful. I may have had unreasonable expectations, but after going to Joe Beef ... I was completely blah about the food. The gnocchi and the meatballs... More

Read the reviews and they were spot on. The wife and I had drinks and both ordered the tortellini and yes there were exactly four good sized pieces for $18 a la carte. We even had to specifically request bread with the meal. That being said, the meal was excellent as was the service. Nice comfortable atmosphere and worth the... More

This place was recommended to us by our hotel concierge (which we take with a grain of salt) but it turned out to be quite good and not outrageous price-wise considering we got drinks as well. The atmosphere was pleasantly casual. We very much enjoyed our dinner there. Would definitely return.

This place is great, food was awesome, and atmosphere was great! Only thing is there is a lot of construction in the area so it was tough for our cab to get around but that didn't bother us at all and we ended up walking just a few minutes. They are open until late and serving pizza so we ended... More

Our hotel originally recommended for us to go out of Old-Montreal for the best italian food and it happened to be booked, fortunately this was a stones-throw from where we were staying and the food was DELICIOUS!!!! fresh, fragrant and very memorable. We had a great time, definitely a must! plus its great to sit outside and people watch!

My boyfriend and I had planned an anniversary weekend in Old Montreal during the Taste of Montreal festival. We had researched and chose this restaurant as it looked fun and had great food. We were very, very wrong. We arrived on time for our Saturday 10:30pm reservation and it was full of people, it seemed like it would be a... More

My family went to Bevo on October 22nd and had an absolutely wonderful time. The gentleman that served us near the bar area was fantastic and so accommodating to us. I think his name was Nick. He had a bunch of chargers and helped my get my phone charged up. He really clicked with us and had some good conversation.... More

My wife and I arrived in Montreal late on a Thursday night. Decided to grab a pint and app after a long 5 hour train ride. We found this hidden gem buried in the middle of the cobblestone roads, century old buildings, and history from before anyone one of us were even a thought. The atmosphere, the staff, the service... A combination of pub, pizzeria and restaurant, Bevo does a nice job delivering a good wood fired pizza and a great craft beer. The menu is more than just pizza and beer however. With cocktails, salads, appetizers, pasta, chicken and fish, Bevo is more a restaurant than the name would suggest. We found a number of gluten free options for... More

A favorite among Old Montreal diners, BEVO Bar + Pizzeria boasts fine Italian cooking, original cocktails and a fresh ambiance nightly. Seven days a week, Chef Giovanni Vella cooks up traditional flavours with a few signature twists. His specialty: authentic, wood-fired pizzas. Two expansive floors, a fully-stocked bar, convenient seating and a DJ every Thursday through Saturday keep things lively until the wee early hours. And during summer, take advantage of its terrace, which sits right on Saint-Vincent Street-a pedestrian stretch bustling with friendly locals and artists.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
