Went to dinner at Satay Brothers one night. This seemed like a pretty cool place to have dinner at and hang out. The seating can be communal if you don’t have a large enough group – but hey you get to meet other people ! The decor is beautiful and well thought out. The food was yummy and the desert... More

There is cool and hip place to be. There was massive line up to get it. It's worth the wait. Food and drinks are great. Service is good as well.

My fiance and I were staying in Montreal for 1 night on our way back from Jamaica, and we decided to meet my cousin and her boyfriend for dinner, as they live in the city. They chose the restaurant. So we didn't know what to expect. We just showed up... The restaurant is located in a very trendy area of... More

I used to avoid eating at Satay Brothers because of the big line-ups, but after finally giving it a try, I was hooked. I had my favourite meal, the LaksaLemak Soup the last time I was there (before they closed for the season at their Atwater market location). As always (for an extra $2), I chose to have this coconut... More

Great concept, great food, small selection on the menu but food is good and tasty if you like south east Asia type of food. I dont know what happen with the service the night we were there... Restaurant wasnt full but it seems they always forgot about us (we were sitting in the front). They forgot one of the order... More

Lived next to Atwater market for about six months and visiting Satay Brothers was one of the highlights. Bun Vapeur is spectacular and they'll be happy to serve it with a cold Arnold Palmer (tea and lemonade). Crazy good food!

I cannot believe I had not visited Satay Brothers having lived in Montreal for decades and having ties with South East Asia. Oh my goodness, what an absolute treat to come for lunch at the Atwater Market location during the summer and early fall days. Do check for which days they are opened during the season at the market. I... More

The food we had was as authentic as I've ever tasted in North America and the beef rendang was so tender and tasty! We had great service throughout and were seated quite quickly, more quickly than I had expected. Thanks to the waiters for the great recommendations and the owner himself for coming out and chatting with us!

Listen, the concept, the colours and the atmosphere is right up there. It's a good idea, it's trending, it's hot. We maybe just didn't get the right service. I especially loved the decor all the way down to the golden kitty chop stick holders. I would recommend taking a table in the middle of the restaurant. We walked into the... More

I had previously visited the booth in the Atwater market, and this was my first time eating at the restaurant itself. We arrived before the supper rush, and were able to get a seat without a wait. The food was great, but atmosphere and service are definitely my take-aways from this place. I have food restrictions - and the waitress... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
