This was my second visit and I will be back!! The waiter made suggestions and helped us. His suggestions were right on! Forget won ton soup as you know it and order the Chinese won ton, so incredible!! As soon as you arrive you are given a pot of yummy tea. When we asked about the tea, they gave us... More

We went with friends and shared several items. The spring rolls were a bit disappointing as well as the dumpling with peanut sauce appetizer but all our main courses were excellent. The calamari and the eggplant were among the best we've ever had. Good service, pleasant atmosphere. We'll be back.

We both took the lunch special menu, me beef, vegetables and fried rice. Companion, shanghi noodles with shrimp and pork, place as about half full. Food was served promptly and hot. Qualiry was acceptable, typical lunch China town.

We were looking for some good Chinese food in Montreal and went to Beijing Restaurant based on the recommendation of our hotel concierge! We had a wonderful lunch which was a good as any Chinese food we have had in recent experience! The restaurant is clean, spacious and open. The service was informative and efficient. Every dish that we had... More

A pleasant interior of medium size & good service. The Beef & mixed vegetables I ordered was individually cooked, was very fresh with crips cooked vegetables with a good variety including water chestnuts( so delicious) corn, mushrooms, broccoli, bok choy & more. I'd come here again if in Montreal again.

I have been going to Beijing for over 20 years but it's been a few years since I last went. We happened to be in Old Montreal and decided to go back. It was always a good restaurant but parking is a hassle in the area so don't go too often. Beijing is one of those restaurants that the owner... More

Had dinner there, a few times, real good food and affordable. Soups are amazing and plenty of ingredients. I'll go there again for sure.

This is one of the very first restaurants you see when approaching Chinatown. It's on a corner building. Unluckily I didn't get to see much of the surroundings as we were in a hurry to meet some friends, whose favorite restaurant this is. They have one dish: an eggplant platter cooked as if it were fish, with caramelized eggplant that... More

I went to Beijing multiple times and was always satisfied. The shrimp balls, peanut dumplings and won ton soups are great and the service is always quick. The only thing that threw me off was that the last time I went I didnt have any $ on me and they didn't take debit payments so I had to run across... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
