At lunch, on a Monday, service was super slow and spotty. Even though we were sitting at the high tables in front of the bar and several staff could see us - not to mention the dirty dishes being continuously walked passed out tables (completely inappropriate) We pretty much had to turn our necks to try making eye contact. My... More

Nice flavourful meals and staff service is warm and very professional. Benoit, our waiter was excellent and recommended some great dishes. Had the roasted scallop risotto and it was superb, very flavourful, you could taste the ingredients and not overpowering. My wife had the roasted duck breast salad, simple, flavourful, again masterfully prepared. Sit on the terrace and watch the... More

This was a great little bistro in the quarter des spectacles. The outdoor patio is great for people watching. They have a limited menu of wines by the glass, but the food was great.

Stopped here for drinks on their beautiful patio, great for people watching during festivals. Location is wonderful and their Porto Sangria to die for. The reason for the 2 stars is the service. Our waiter splashed my Sangria on my white linen pants and I had to ask him for napkins! Had to leave my table and ask a female... More

After a couple of rainy days in Montreal, today was a beautiful, sunny day and what a perfect day to spend at Café Du Nouveau Monde in Montreal's Theater District. Our friend, who is a personal friend of Paul Holder, the owner of this and other wonderful restaurants, recommended the restaurant to us and we were so glad she did!... More

I love this place! Every year when we come, the service and food is really great. There is a wide variety of things on the menu. You can come for a full meal, or you can simply have a glass of wine or beer and a great salad or appetizer. I love sitting outside and listening to the music from... More

Fantastic duck confit, and amazing portobello ravioli with duck ham. These guys do duck well. Great location where we could sit and watch the crowds go by at the Jazz Festival. Would have rated a notch higher if the service had been more attentive.

We had dinner here during Montreal jazz Festival, very convenient to two of the stages. We both had the scallops and Risotto, which were excellent. Would have preferred a bit more than the three scallops each which we were served, but they were delicious and well prepared. Might have wished for a bit faster payment process but it was the... Excellent food, wine & service. We were so impressed we came twice during our visit. We had the black angus steak salad & the burger. Both delightful. Appetizers & wine list solid with plenty of range. Highly recommend!

Special pleasant place in the style of a Parisian brasserie, we were six and everything ordered was very good, the grilled octopus i had, the magret de canard salad, the ravioli. The French white wine bourgogne aligoté is reasonably priced and the service is very courteous, prices are reasonable for a quality restaurant.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
