Every time I travel to a new city I try to find a nice restaurant to enjoy some local food but this time in Montreal when I was checking some restaurants I run into this name, "Ferreira" so Portuguese. I decided to have something to remind me from home. The restaurant is very cosy and it definitely reminded me of... More

So we went for a friends birthday on a friday night (we were a group of 10). Service was so long (had to wait 30 minutes to get our drink after ordering, even had to remind the waitress twice). She looked like she had way too many people to take care of, I feel like they should hire more staff... More

I recently took a trip up to Montreal for New years eve. My wife and I made reservations online before. If you have never gone out to eat new years eve, trust me, it can be a nightmare. Everything was prefect. The food was excellent, service was prefect and the overall experience was great. I would definitely recommend this place... More

After years of walking past Ferreira Café on Peel St. and saying I should go in there, I finally did, and I didn’t regret it. It’s the kind of place that looks very warm and inviting from the street and when you get inside it doesn’t disappoint. It serves Portuguese cuisine, and the décor is also from the Old Country;... I went to this restaurant thinking it was a cafe spot. I had been touring all day and went in my touring clothes. Once inside, it was obviously a nice dinner out and everyone was dressed up. They served us anyway. It was a very cool place and I recommend it especially if dressed appropriately.

My husband, tween son and I dined at Ferreira on a Wednesday evening at the end of February. Our server, Michael, was wonderful (professional, knowledgeable and friendly) as was the sommelier. The atmosphere was vibrant, which was exactly the mood we were hoping for. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was spot on. We had no real complaints... More

Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant and we were very impressed. The service was excellent. The server made great suggestions, explained the wine. The food presentation was stunning. I loved the grilled octopus as a starter. We tried the black cod and tuna steak - All great! To finish it up: caipirinha sorbet with Portuguese style Creme Brule...still dreaming of... More

First off, understand you will spend a good amount of money, more than $200 for 2, unless you don't drink. Also, most of the wine on the extensive list is overpriced, however, there are a few very good bargains. Everything we ate was delicious. The bouillabaisse was the best I ever had, and I loved the salmon in it. Seafood... More

Ferreira has been in Montreal for decades. Located in the heart of the business district, this Portuguese restaurant is packed at lunch time with business people. The layout is a bit crammed---navigating he aisles is a bit like Montreal's city traffic. Maybe they should install one way signs. The menu has quite a bit of variety, but the general theme... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
