Saw this place on Andrew Zimmern show and went. Really loved it. Great ambiance, live music was terrific and the bread pudding dessert with maple syrup was one of the best desserts I have had (and I don't like bread pudding). This place is a must for any warm weather visit to Montreal.

This is a former Hotel in Colonial times that now houses in indoor restaurant and a very large and popular garden restaurant with Jazz. It is located in the heart of Old Montreal on Place Jacques Cartier south of the Montreal City Hall and North of the Port of Montreal.

Love this place in the Summer! It's a must on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Sitting on the back patio nested amongst the beautiful trees and building facades sipping on red sangria listening to the jazz trio playing outside. The salads are fabulous! Food here is classic French and very fresh ingredients. Onion soup is also a classic here and they... More

This is a gracious spot and a tried and true venue for a lovely al fresco lunch or dinner (in the summertime) There are often local musicians who play for the guests in the courtyard. The food is French - light fare like crepes and salads, but very nicely prepared. And it's not too pricey. Gets crowded so best to... More

Jardin Nelson is a beautiful restaurant with the best indoor garden restaurant. We have been there several times & have always enjoyed the setting & food. A bit of a line up sometimes however worth the wait. Amazing salads & hands down the best pouding chômeur in the province. Fir those that do not know this dessert it's pound cake... More

I only been to this place with my girlfriend and I have to admit that the inside looks incredibly beautiful (very decorate, and full of plants and nature around). The service is fantastic and the location can't get any better (it's in old port) and even though I don't recall what I had, I do remember having this special crêpe... More

If you're a tourist visiting Montreal, this is a really quaint outdoor/indoor kind of restaurant. Theres usually a live band that plays, call ahead to make reservations for outside. The appeal of this restaurant is the garden. Service and food is great. Price is reasonable for the location and appeal.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
