The service was excellent - attentive, informative, and welcoming. The food was flavourful, cooked perfectly, and presented beautifully. I tried the carrot and ginger soup, the grilled duck teriyaki, and the poached salmon with shrimp. Everything I tasted was excellent and satisfying on all levels. I have only positive things to say about this restaurant. And the fact that it... More

We were two couples and booked an 8:30 seating at this cozy restaurant. The owner/manager took such good care of us -- we felt like old friends, dining in his home. Big portions, with everything deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. I'm not usually a big meat eater, but that's what the restaurant is known for. So I took the 17-hour... More

We were told that Montreal would be a good eating town, but in our three days there it was no contest for our favorite meal. It was at Le Petit Plateau, which we noticed on a walk near our inn (our concierge strongly supported our choice). We took an early reservation and were cautioned to BYOB (which was fortunate--liquor stores... More

We visied Montreal for two days and glad we discovered this place, the only dinner we had in the city! It is quite off the downtown area but the food is great, service is polite and friendly. We went to their second seatings which starts at 8.30. It was a houseful. With only two servers,i think they did a great... More

A French Bistro of you minds eye. Charming, intimate with an excellent Bistro menu of old favorites and specials. Entrees include a soup or salad. If the house made Foie Gras isn't featured with your entree. I recommend getting it as a appetizer. The sauces, particularly for Venison and Lamb entrees were slightly underwhelming. Standard Bistro desserts. Reservations are highly... More

Pleased to see that Montreal now have some good BYOB restaurants. Great food at a reasonable price based on bringing your own wine.

Lovely French style restaurant on Marie Anne Est in the heart of le Plateau. Cosy homely feel and delicious food. The restaurant offers two sittings in the evening and booking is recommended. Bring your own wine. We were a party of five and enjoyed a range of main courses including a delicious lamb shank. The restaurant was able to accommodate... More

We had great service from our server Ray. I appreciated when I made a reservation that I was reminded to bring my own wine - which makes eating out quite reasonable. The menu was interesting - Venison, Duck, Pork, Lamb etc. The portion sizes were huge. Not sure what is made fresh as it seems to be re-heated. Food was... More

Intimate setting. Good service, although bit of hurry for next seating. Well priced. BYOB helped. Most of our party very happy with their main courses - particularly good were lamb shanks, magnet de canard, cassoulet, salmon. Soup a bit tasteless and salad nondescript. Pate foie gras was substandard. Trout was overcooked. Desserts good. Would go back.

The atmosphere and service are seductive - this is a lovely dinner spot for romantic occasions. The menu is quite limited and the food is traditional french. Be warned, there is a little pressure not to linger after your meal as the resto is small and needs at least two seatings to keep the business thriving.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
