We held a dinner party for 50 people here and Au Petit Extra could not have been more accommodating and easy going than they were. The food is delicious, the service attentive, the venue welcoming and charming. I would return here in a heartbeat.

We were very impressed with the food. The vegetables were very plentiful and wonderfully prepared. It is surely a place were locals go. It was very busy on a Thursday night! The only drawback - service was rather slow.

We visited for the first time and I can say it will not be the last. I had the eggs benedict and my wife the salmon. Service was great as well as the ambiance. Thank you!!

This charming bistro feature superb dining and great service. The foie gras, escargot, and confit de canard all great dishes here. A must do while in Montreal!

Great simple deco, pleasant server provide excellent service. The quality of the food was good, but very over priced for a pasta dish with 5 shrimps. It's over price I don't need to spend $9. for a glass of wine

The service here was superb and the food was fantastic. We had the duck confit, fish soup, and goat cheese app. All were excellent! The atmosphere was nice, but not stuffy. We had a lovely evening here.

We ate here on a Saturday night with reservations, though I don't think they were needed. Good food with some things outstanding. Pate de Foie Gras - excellent! Duck Confit and pork dishes were very good. A somewhat limited menu had us wishing for some more choices, but all in all, a very good restaurant. One thing we noticed at... More

Our group of four couples enjoyed a dinner here and were well served with good French food. Atmosphere was great and as it was not crowded on this Sunday night, our cheerful conversation did not bother others. I had the cod which was good. My wife had the duck confit, big portion. Fish soup is tomato based and tasty. The... More

I've been coming to Au Petit Extra for over 15 years. The first time I went, the restaurant was a busy, popular, and vibrant place. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. For a short time a few years ago, I felt that the quality of the food and service had dropped. However, I decided to give the... More

Took my mother and husband here on Saturday night for a recent visit to Montreal. We didn't have a reservation, but were quickly and nicely seated anyway. The hostess was extremely nice and accommodating. Our server was nice, too, although certainly had a French "attitude", but we're in Montreal, so I rather expect it. He did bring us the English... Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
