Open my eyes, Close my eyes, See nothing. This is O'Noir experience. My senses and perceptions are amplified by the loss of vision. Smell the bread enter the room through the perfume of the persone wearing it. I never perceived this reality that was just in front of me. I love this smell, i want to just bury my nose... More

While at lunch in old Montreal, my daughter and I started talking to a nice Toronto couple next table and they mentioned they had this totally odd experience at O Noir. It felt so different and intriguing that we had to check it out, and we are so thankful they pointed this place out to us. The staff is extremely... More

The concept of dining in complete darkness (like the blindness of our wait staff) is a unique experience. I made sure ahead of time that we were to be near the door as I am extremely claustrophobic and after our waiter took us to our table, he left and I was too agitated to experience our dining in the dark... It was very cool experience to eat in the dark however being there is only a waiting area and bathrooms that have lights i expected it to be really clean. The bathrooms were ok for cleanliness and i noticed spiderwebs and dust in the ceiling/vent area throughout the waiting area. So when entering the 'dark dining room' i was already... More

My husband and I decided to try the experience on our week-end in Montréal. The staff was wonderfully attentive and the experience was very good. The food was good. We both lived the experience differently my husband had trouble with the noise and voices and I was calm and relaxed! Our server was very nice! The table next to us... More

I reserved a spot at this restaurant without fully knowing how it worked. This restaurant is more of an experience of the senses as opposed to a culinary "foodie" experience. When you arrive to this restaurant, you are greeted by a hostess who will provide you with a set menu of sorts. You have to choose from a 2 course... More

We arrived late to Montreal and walked here on a chance from our hotel. The staff accomodated us and seated us at 0845pm even though they normally close the kitchen by 8pm. We both choose the surprise menu as that seemed more fun. We drank a lovely bottle of red wine that was reasonably priced. Fay, our server, was great,... More

Myself and three friends traveled to Montreal for our first visit to the city. We had come across the restaurant while searching for special birthday meals online and all had been eager to try dining in the dark. We all felt a bit of anxiety when we first entered the pitch black room, but we were very fortunate to have... More

My husband and I were in Montreal for a quick visit. Really just two full days and three nights. I stumbled upon O.Noir when doing our pre-trip research, and shared it with my husband. Although we were intrigued, I didn't really think we'd go. Montreal is filled with so many amazing restaurants. A day or two before we left, my... More

5 of us women were in Montreal for a ladies away trip and decided to go here for supper one night upon recommendation from a friend. Were were very nervous and apprehensive. But our server Julie was absolutely wonderful. She made us feel at ease right away - assuring us all the time. It is pitch blackness. Food was great... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
