Absolutely delicious bagels. Definitely worth the trip to get some. Just be warned that they don't take credit cards.

The absolute best. Nothing beats walking down the street eating from a bag a fresh "just out of the oven " warm bagels under your arm.

I went here based on the recommendation of a friend. I'm from NY so I like to check out other bagel recommendations. I'm usually disappointed, but not this time. I like the smaller nature of the bagel and the crispy outside. I had the blueberry which was good, but the everything was clearly the better choice and fresher. Glad I... More

Pale imitations of New York's H&H bagels, these are sort of sweet, sort of chewy, but nothing extraordinary. Huge disappointment, but at least they had some substance, the St. Viateur bagels are even less impressive because they have no flavor or texture.

We'd heard of the great rivalry between Fairmount and St. Viateur bagel fans in Montreal. Having tried the latter on the last trip, we now went looking for the Fairmounts. Alas, this location is just a bakery: no toppings, no shmears, no coffee. We bought a few anyway, and ate them plain and cold. We were not impressed by these... More

I literally created this account to leave this review. I came to fairmount bagels two years ago and it was spectacular. People said this was the best bagel around and I said "ha! I am from New York! Unlikely!" And yet it was. The most beautiful everything bagel with fresh cream cheese and perfect smoked salmon. My friends and I... More

Had half a dozen of the classic, sesame bagel. Always a lineup, even at 15hr on a weekday. Good atmosphere, workers even looked happy to be there! Wanted the minis but gotta reserve those in advance apparently. You haven't experienced Montreal without trying fresh bagels from there or Fairmont bagels.

Great bagels! If you have someone who's a chocolate chip bagel lover they may dislike the fact that the bagel is orange zesty. I think it's pretty good. The all-dressed bagel is an all-time winner, and the sesame garlic matzoh is epic. CASH ONLY:) And they are 1:1 American:Canadian, so convert your bucks first.

Hey, so if you're looking for bagel, anytime of the day, this is the place. They are almost always fresh out of the ovens-which you can see from the counter. The staples are the sesame seed type, these are the main production line. However, if you are a real Bagel aficionado, the only way is poppy seed. These aren't always... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
