We discovered this place nearly 10 years ago and we very rarely visit Montreal w/o eating there or taking some take away. Excellent value, plus it's BYO! I dare say they serve the best butter chicken in Canada... I would even say as good as those I tasted in India (although my trip there was 12 years ago). I do... More

I went to a lot of Indian restaurant in Montreal, this one is my favorite (and Indian’s Oven in second). Like almost every Indian restaurant the decor and the service is so-so. It’s a 'Bring your own wine policy'. After 18:00 expect a line-up because it’s get crowded rapidly. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious! Everything is great on... More

We are on a roll to try every Indian restaurant in the area. So now this was our second indian resto and it was good. Our first one was better and less expensive. The good thing about these restaurants is BYOW. There are all so busy that you need to go early or make reservations. We had a little of... More

I named location becasue there are a number of very good Indian restaurants within a few blocks, if one is too full, you can go to another We were very pleased to wait in line for about 15 min for our party of six. The service was excellent, the place was chaotic and full of life. many friends and families... More

We have known this restaurant for more than 5 years and we still come back to it whenever we want to have a good Indian food lunch or dinner. For lunch: go for the thalis. For dinner, you can't go wrong with the food on the whole menu. The appetizers are tasty and fresh; the curries are thick, spicy and... More

We first tried to come here on a Friday night, but there was quite a queue. Our second attempt was a weekday lunchtime. Armed with beer from the nearby depanneur, we ordered two thalis - one veggie, one chicken. Both excellent and both cheap.

Been to this restaurant for several years now and I find the place to have been victim of its success. During the end of the week and weekend evenings, the place is crowded and you will almost certainly have to wait. However, they do take reservations but in my experience, they sometimes didn't write it down so I ended having... More

recently we visited Montreal and have chance to visit Bombay Mahal restaurant for dinner. We were party of six. The restaurant is very filthy. They don't except credit card. Also they don't except US currency with its value. They cheated us with out bill of $80.00 Canadian, and when gave credit card they said no foreign or US credit card.... More

Went with a lot of expectations in having an authentic Indian food experience. The place was warm in welcoming us. Hygiene was not all that great with dirty chairs - we were amongst the first to get there at lunch . The chairs had not been cleaned from the previous night presumably. We ordered the Indian lunch thali. The dal,... More

We arrived from the metro, just a short walk as my friend told me he wanted me to experience...and I so loved the rich taste, right from India...my favourite food. I highly recommend it.

Staying in Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension

Neighbourhood Profile
The most ethnically diverse of all of Montreal's neighbourhoods, Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension (or, Parc-Ex) stands at the city's centre, a hub for rail and metro traffic. Starting at the old station where the Canadian Pacific used to disembark, the brick-and-mortar surroundings of Parc-Ex have a homey feel, with leafy lawns and bicycle lanes seamlessly incorporated into the landscape. With prominent Greek and Spanish communities, Greektown includes the tastiest stops for brochettes and shawarma, and local bars entertain an excitable soccer fanbase. Jerry Park and Stade Uniprix stand ready for sports diehards to enjoy a game, while the the Complexe Environnemental Saint-Michel and Le Taz skate parks invite athletes to train and compete. Though built for the active and best by day, Cirque du Soleil, the TOHU center for arts, and the Le Boulevard shopping centre offer diversions for those who wish to stay late.
